Title: Vote for Round One
Post by: koboshi on July 26, 2007, 05:37:21 AM
Here's the vote for round one.
If you haven’t already, read over the submissions on this page (http://forums.f13.net/index.php?topic=10467.0), then vote.  Results will be tallied and revealed on Saturday.

I say that we name schild's game "Trouble in 30 Grams of Protein".

No matter who I vote for, after I vote I get a "Remove Vote" next to the last person. Does that mean it thinks I voted for them?

no. mine always shows up in the same place also.

"Remove Vote" clears whatever you voted for and lets you vote again.  In case you have a sudden change of heart or something.

Is it bad form to vote for myself?

It's not bad form, but it makes for a more critical process. You know you liked your idea or you wouldn't have submitted it... considering which of the other ideas you might also like gives you a chance to pretend your perfect, awesome idea wasn't there and look at the others with a more discerning eye.

The most popular "game idea" so far is an indigestion simulator.

No wonder (insert easy target here) sold so many boxes.

It has nothing to do with indigestion. And there are no fart jokes. It's serious business.

You know you all want to change your votes to 'Priscilla the Pink Pussy'.  :hello_kitty:

Since I live in Florida, I demand a recount! :)

Thanks Sam.

I don't know if you forgot, I certainly did:

Quote
This sounds a little confusing but it's really simple.  Let's say that in the first round you suggest a fighting game with cats, but another player who suggests a puzzle game based on traffic patterns wins the vote.  Then in the second round you have to make up the gameplay for a game based on traffic patterns, not your game.  So you describe a mechanic “where the purpose of the game is to create congestion by...” and your idea is selected as the winner of that round.  Then each round from then on all the players must work with your suggestion as the basis for that round's design.

So basically WE HAVE TO DESIGN THE GAME OF WHOEVER'S CONCEPT WINS THIS ROUND, this is serious business folks.

You know you want to make a game about my Pink Pussy and not some guy with an upset stomach (and a vivid imagination).

If only it were an upset stomach.

No one wants to talk about a pink pussy so much that the site gets blocked by Websense.

Yea, I think there is gonna’ be a lot less submissions in the next round when people figure this out.   Cowards.

Hey, I really think that noir would be a cool setting for a multiplayer game. Not sure how well it would work or how the hell I could make it happen, but I am thoroughly engrossed in Noir fiction/film at the moment.

I'm not saying we couldn't tie in indigestion mini-games or plentiful pink pussycats.

Minigames? No. My game won't be on the Wii, thx.

There are tons of minigames (in a broad-sense) in the MMO genre. Hell, in quite a few single-player RPGs there are fun mini-games.

I think you're just upset that your indigestion is not being taken serially.

If a serious game comes out of this contest I will lose all faith in humanity.

This game better have epic lolz.

My game is Not Epic Lulz. I took it quite seriously.

Does that read
My game is: Not Epic Lulz, or My game is Not Epic Lulz.

Because if it was the first then you are a clever, clever man.

Looks like this thread will be moving to Serious Business soon.

Epic Lulz all around.

Damn it, I had no contingency for a tie... I’m flipping a coin.
Winner, Samwise (whose cat probably messed with quantum probabilities)

Yea, there is a contingency for a tie. Make 2 threads. One for each game. People can vote on the final results. And then we move on with the contest. Nothing wrong with extending the contest a week.

But... The Coin!  The Coin has spoken.

I won't have my awesome ruined by a coin. I don't think Sam would want that either.

Shut up Gore, it's over!

Gore got cheated. Are you telling Schlid that he got cheated too? I keep thinking more that Schlid's idea could be hilarious fun.

Just got back from a long weekend out of town or I'd have weighed in sooner.  I'd be more distraught over the coin-flip if there were actual stakes riding on it.   :-P  As it is, though, my take is: koboshi's game, koboshi's rules.  I have no doubt that if schild opts to MC another iteration of a game like this there will be ample provisions for RIGHTNING ROUNDS and so forth.

Oh, no way. Too much work.

I was just bored that night.

How was your trip?

Title: Re: Vote for Round One
Post by: Samwise on July 31, 2007, 09:30:02 PM
It was a trip.  Went to Massachusetts (aka The Other Side of the Goddamn Continent) for my girlfriend's big family reunion.

Played a lot of Catan (lots of gamers in the family).

Drank a lot of hard cider (one thing I will freely admit the East Coast does much better than the West Coast).

Sweated a lot (her uncle's a bit stingy with the AC).

That about sums it up.
