Sooo....2k football. Time to buy a 360?

For football?  Just buy a Genesis.

Well, no. I'll probably wait for the die shrink and more platinum titles. My first football game was Joe Montana's Sports Talk Football on the Genesis, though.

I was just making commentary to open the thread. We like 2k around here. I wondered if we liked it enough to go with a non-NFL version.

I'll definitely give it a shot.

I'm pretty shallow.  I'll probably give it a pass unless I hear exceptional things.  The no NFL licensing is actually a pretty big thing for me.

The no NFL license is holding me back as well as just not having a 360. But I'd be willing to give it a go. It's likely going to be a better GAME than Madden, but not having NFL names, team logos and such is a HUGE HUGE deal to me. I approach sports games as a sports fan first.

NFL or not I'm definitely going to try this one. it's all about the gameplay for me, and the 2K football games have IMO always been much better than Madden in that regard. When the game was first announced they stated that there wouldn't be a way to create NFL custom teams, but I think they backpedaled on that. The community created teams for other games are as a rule better than the stock ones anyhow, so I'm hoping for that.

Isn't that the one where they went and signed 250+ legends of football that no longer play? And you can make superstar teams with legends + generic guys and compete against other people online? I wish someone would make a game this cool but for proper football or basketball. Why would anyone think to skip it is beyond me tbh :)

Hey. It's got Jerry Rice, my all-time favorite player. And unlike the last few years in the NFL, his stats will probably reflect his golden Frisco years.

Hell, I'd probably just rebuild the 49ers as a good team. I think it's time for Charlie Garner to retire. Montana and Rice, maybe throw Romo on to play as MLB...okeedoke.

Of course...there's the whole 'no 360' bit...

Waiting for a couple reviews to come in on this, but I'm 99% sure I'll be picking it up this week.

One of the things I'm most interested in is the use of the right analog stick for swatting passes and grabbing backs/qbs trying to juke and whatnot. I always liked that concept of putting a little 'english' into the controls, if I may borrow a billiards term.

This is one of those games that makes me wish I had a console. There's not many...

I am a license whore. I will grab Madden. I feel dirty.

I was license whore when 2k had a share of it. Now, I'm looking forward to creating my own team. No way I'll buy a Madden football game.

Yeah, I could give a shit if it's a real NFL team. I've always been about the players, anyway. Also, the freedom from NFL oversight (hello injuries) should be interesting.

Anyone know if Bo Jackson is in this?

Not sure if he'd be officially allowed "legendary" status --- even though he IS the greatest player of all time.
