the Confederate flag underneath the stone in my class ring

For those 2 or 3 of you guys who still read Game Angst, the site went down close to a month ago. The site had been run by Shockeye, paid for by Shockeye and all the hosting and such was done by Shockeye. Shockeye has disappeared: I say disappeared, but really I have no idea what happened to him. He's not answered his phone, nor any emails I've sent him on the subject. Sending a support ticket to the host got me the information that the site account was closed. Since I wasn't the payer or the owner, I couldn't really pursue it further. I've no idea what happened, or why the whole thing went down.

So I've decided to hell with it and am changing the focus of my web writing. I haven't really been that interested in writing about or playing MMOG's lately, but other subjects have tickled my fancy. Not all of these subjects would fit into the Game Angst categories I'd set myself up as. In point of fact, the ideas lent themselves more to a blog than what I attempted to make Game Angst. With that in mind, I joined the blog revolution (a few years late as always) and created my own blogspot, The Game of Angst.

It's me. Writing about what I feel like writing about. Though not without its flaws, I'm actually digging the Blogger software. Subdreamer was great, but it always felt like a big production to write to it. That might explain my paucity of output in the months before the site's demise. The blog software actually makes it feel more like pulling out a sketchbook as opposed to the full canvas painting I felt it necessary to craft with Subdreamer. I hope this will get my juices flowing again, if not about MMOG's then about stuff in general.

Without further ado, I present, The Game of Angst. Bookmark it. Touch it. Pet it. Love it.

Just don't break it.

I noticed the outage, if it makes you feel better.  I felt it might be rude to ask about it, though.

Why do you have the same first name as me?  Thank God for internet handles.

Edit: Fucking internet.

Sorry to hear that happened, Haemish.  Don't forget to change the link in your sig, it's still pointing to the .com site.

Suggestion for the blog though - find whatever blogger uses for a "read more" link and use it.  It makes the front page not be so scrolly and it's easier to see the article intros in a more compact space.

I am supposed to get a blog at work and one of my first blogs is going to be something you touched on.

One of the reasons things like YouTube and Blogger are popular is that it makes it easy for people to create content and to do the fun part of that rather than the work part. There is no reason why somone can't just make their own webpage that looks and acts like a blog but it requires a lot of effort. And outside of engineers that effort doesn't interest anybody because that isn't the main point for them.

In the case of blogs people want to be able to type in some stuff and have it appear online, organized and such. The rest is mostly details. A lot of the things that are popular today in the internet arena are popular because they let people focus on the content they are creating and want to create, rather than how to create it, where to put it, etc.

Now I just need to tie that into a pitch for our product...hmm...

Subdreamer is a great CMS system, but it was really more than I was using. And as CMS programs go, once set up, it was easy to use. But it felt more elaborate (and it was).

I'll look into the "Read More" thing. I'm not sure Blogger works like that and since I'm averse to setting up my own hosting for the moment, it may just have to stay that way. It might also help to RTFM, since most of what I've done with Blogger was Plug and Play.

I figured out the "Read More" thing so the front page should be much more approachable, and added some stories.

Also, since his profile says he lives in AZ I don't suppose anyone has knocked on Shockeye's door to see if he's still moving around?

Maybe someone else is... well, not Haemish it's a long trip.  But you never know.  You should knock on the door just to see!  Do it on Halloween.  You could wear a Ghostbusters costume.

Same here.  Just left a comment.

Looks much nicer with the erad more links added.  See what you can accomplish by RTFM?   rolleyes

Blah, needs approval before posting, but if I log in using my Google account, Blogger thinks my posting name should be Lori.  Bah, not going that route.  I'll stick to other+web address, thankyouverymuch!

DOH. I just turned off moderating comments before they go live. Too much hassle that.
