The game that dominated my freshman year of HS is back.  And no, I'm not even going to link to the trailer.  BECAUSE IF YOU NEED TO SEE IT YOU AREN'T A TRUE BELIEVER.

I think the novelty has worn off by now.  Not being in a dorm anymore, why would I give a shit about a 4 player split screen game?

It was funny watching those Goldeneye badasses getting their teeth kicked in when Quake 2 came out a few months later (go go dorm piracy).

Do they include a gratuitously retarded controller?

Yes, Goldeneye is back.  From an entirely different developer.  Several bad Bond games and 13 console FPS filled years later, when FPS on a console is no longer a novelty.

About the only interesting thing about this project is that they're doing basically the same story, but inserting in Daniel Craig in as Bond and reworking the story as needed to fit his portrayal.

Yeah....the original was only "great" because it was a relative novelty at the time.  There's no way this is going to be good.  There, I said it.

Yeah, I hooked my N64 up to check it out.

Goldeneye did not age well.  Slow, slow game.  Boring weapons.  No jumping.  Ye gods!

The only good thing was the prox mines, which are still awesome.

Turok 2 faired better.  San Fran Rush 2049 is also still pants-shittingly awesome.

This thread made me go back and watch a video, yeah... I should have just stuck to my fond memories. I didn't recall just how low poly this title was.

Wii FPS

Which means it will still be a low poly title!  At least they're sticking true to the spirit of the original.

I'm pretty sure K9 was just pointing out how much ass this game is going to suck. Goldeneye was awesome. WAS.

You kids with your diet colas and rock music are no fun.  Goldeneye is great.  All of you who have a Wii will buy it.  You know that.

But this time it'll be different, because it's the same.

And yes, Triforcer, you're seeing right through us.  We're all secretly pining for a generic FPS on the Wii.  Screw production values, gameplay, and innovation; I want to waggle like it's 1997 again.  rolleyes

No, no and no.

To anyone who had played FPS on PC's at the time Goldeneye came out, Goldeneye was slow, boring, ugly and did I mention boring? 4-player split screen might have been revolutionary for consoles, but it made for shitty gameplay.

As such, I give not two shits about Goldeneye for the Wii.

To its credit, I enjoyed the original because there were different ways to approach every encounter.

I grew to hate it because you could cheat by peeking at the other displays. Ohhhhh, I see.

Is this game going to use the same godawful FPS controls seen in the CoD4 port and Metroid Prime 3? (IE: Having to turn your weapon ALL THE WAY TO LEFT TO TURN AROUND)

Hey, at least is was one of the first games to have the AI react to HOW you shot them; in the head, hand, leg, groin, etc.
