http://blog.limewire.com/posts/31244-martin-gore-subpoenaed-in-world-of-warcraft-lawsuit/

Batshit crazy kid sues Blizzard for 1 million in punitive damages, "claiming that playing the game has contributed to his sense of alienation and social awkwardness".

Subpoena's Martin L. Gore of Depeche Mode and Winona Ryder to testify on his behalf.

Estavillo has sued video game companies Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft in the past.

Yeah he's really in with a chance of that $1m isn't he? I think a vexatious litigant ruling is considerably more likely  Oh ho ho ho. Reallllly?

Apart from the "what the fuck?!" reaction, the only reaction I get is "that's just sad."

Why not? This is America! I hope he wins something or, at the very least, inconveniences some more celebs.

One of his complaints is that WoW is too slow.  Facepalm

I was drinking when I wrote this, so sue me if it goes astray.

Maybe he'll win so much money in the lawsuit that he'll be able to hire someone to play WoW for him.  How cool would that be?

Do they file these things by themselves or what?

I don't know about American law system, but isn't there a rule against frivolous and un-winnable lawsuits gumming up the court system and inconveniencing people? I dunno, I would think that any real lawyer filing this lawsuit would get his license revoked and be kicked out of the bar. Just curious how these things work...

Often, yes, they file the suits themselves.  It's possible to be sanctioned by the court that you are forbidden to file lawsuits unless a licensed attorney is willing to file it with you, but you really have to go above and beyond the call of duty to have that happen.  You have to send things like this to the court on a regular basis to get slapped down.

There are also fifty states...  It'll take a really long time to get banned in all of them.

Hahahaha!  I'm really good at this!

It's even funnier when that happens to actual lawyers. I think the Birther lawyer chick has gotten pretty close. :)
