Yeah, you're right.  I knew that, but my brain saw 'I' and went with it.  Should have just written out "V = IR" and left it at that.

I find the title/image more suggestive theme-wise than the band name, but the band name has points in its favor as well.

Those masks are very ambiguous. I'm tempted to send seperate Euro and Asian lists.  8-)

Honestly if I had more songs to pick from I'd probably finish it faster. Its a little bit of thin pickings theme-wise and I'm waffling a lot on some of them.

Yeah, I can see that.  I had 174 songs to weed through and I think I found about 25 that I thought were worth considering for the final cut.   If I'd had fewer I'd have had to review the 70 songs or so in the "maybe" list.

It was sort of a difficult theme.  I ended up selecting most of my submissions using the whole original quote, probably leaning too much towards the 'hated for what you are' part.

I would have some good ones, but it caught me at a bad time and was a pretty small submission window. :sad:

Personally, I thought it was easier than the first one.  There are lots of songs about delusion, alienation, and negation that hang off the title very nicely.  The problem is in finding songs that fit the theme AND don't yield another wrist-slitting emo mix.   :awesome_for_real:

I have a question related to this process. 

Why do these albums have band names?  Compilations have titles and sometimes genres but almost never a particular band they're associated with.

As you will have it in your hands soon, I'll say a few thoughts on theme.

Basically there are 3 really obvious things that suggested themselves to me, without getting too complex or overthinking it:

1) Covers/mashups
2) electronic music (from the band name)
3) songs about lying/liars/etc

Then if you want to get more abstract with the whole what you are not thing, the option is there of course.

For some reason I got a *ton* of goth stuff. I had kind of been hoping I would have gotten enough from category #1 to make the entire thing neat/unusual covers but there just wasn't enough to work with there.

I called the cover thing. I called it! I gave you like 5 or 6 of them.

Didn't even think about covers.. Clever.. although I think I sent a Miss Kittin covering the Misfits. And if I didn't, I should have.

Including Shatner I bet.  :heartbreak:

All is forgiven if you were the source of the Sly and the Family Stone track though.  :heart:

Also someone actually found some band called Impedance, doing an electronic cover (of Tainted Love)! Sadly it really kind of sucked so it didn't make the actual mix tape but A for effort nonetheless.

Nouvelle Vague does a shitty version of Human Fly, if that's your thing.

I sent in Crazy World of Arthur Brown covering Screaming Jay Hawkins, among others.

I was the source of both the Shatner and the Sly. Win? The Shatner was just for lulz.

Was the Shatner pick Rocketman or Lucy in the Sky?  I would have a hard time choosing between the two.

Criticism welcome. I'm still not really 100% happy with it but I think it came out largely OK. I kind of feel like electronic tracks are still sort of weak spots, but they felt in-theme and the selection wasn't so large that I had a lot of leeway.

Yeah that one was not really connected to the theme in any obvious way but it was such a good track (and I'd never heard it before, and the band doesn't even show up on wikipedia) that I thought it needed to be in just so people would hear it.

The Fainted and Covenant are ones I haven't heard before that I liked.

The Faint... I think I sent? :P I don't even remember.

Cool mix though. Only criticism is there should be more songs.

They're a pretty obscure Wisconsin band. The only reason I ever discovered them was Pandora thought they sounded like Dave Matthews Band. I don't really see much similarity, but I'm thankful it had them in the mix. Now, I have both of their CDs.

Afaik, Conductor is a pretty literal tune.. It's about conductors.  :grin:

Just that it sounds just like some of the background ambient from the movie. Perhaps they used the same samples.
