Title: Joan Rivers has died
Post by: WayAbvPar on September 04, 2014, 12:00:43 PM
BREAKING NEWS: Joan Rivers has died at age 81.

Does this make 3? Or does this start another round of 3?

I was never a huge fan of hers, but she was occasionally amusing. RIP.

I liked her for years - funny, but not enough to keep me glued. But when I moved in with my Xgf back in 2007, My appreciation for her grew exponentially. My X would watch QVC quite frequently. While I hated it with a blinding passion, every time Joan would come on (almost always with Lisa Robertson since she was the only one who liked working with Joan), my xgf made me watch. She was hilarious on that station and would drop 5-6 vulgarities in the span of her two hours which would make the entire staff  on the show (save for Lisa who looked rather relieved to not have to be so stiff and dry) clench their asses so hard it looked like it hurt. So entertaining. After that, if I would come across her fashion police show, I'd pay it a few minutes of my attention. I'll miss her, one of those funny, quick witted, reactionary comedians I genuinely liked.

She was absolutely unafraid to say something extreme, which I admired. I just got sick of the stupid fashion police crap at the end of her career.

Like her or not, the woman was a pioneer for women in comedy.  She was fearless in an age where it wasn't fashionable.  I always enjoyed her when she filled in for Johnny.

Damn... too many deaths.

While its sad she's passed away, I never really thought she was very funny and all the fashion critique shit she did at the end was generally pretty annoying and often petty and unnecessarily cruel.

I always thought she was damn funny. I don't care for the Fashion Police stuff but that's because I don't care for fashion. She, however, is funny. Never afraid to say anything. My wife has made me watch the reality show she did with her daughter and it was funny as much because of her inability to shut the fuck up.

I had a feeling this was going to happen after the surgery went south.  She'd been in a coma for a few days now.

Even after the really botched job she kept at it, so sad.

She was good at being mean, which meant she was a 'bitch' and not 'a mean funny person' like Rickels.   I always thought she never got the respect she deserved for being such a huge pioneer.  Any women doing well in comedy today owes a huge debt to her.

I was never that much of a fan of her but I can appreciate somebody who both utterly lacks an internal censor and gives zero fucks about acquiring one.

She was almost always funny and never afraid. Hat tip to her for that.

Her daughter however, has sadly now probably had nearly as much plastic surgery as Joan and she's my age. =P

Good in a Spaceballs. An obnoxious shitheel for the last decade.

81 is a good run for someone made of plastic, so RIP and all that.

Yeah, this. Making a living calling other female celebrities ugly, badly dressed and fat doesn't get you into my hall of giving-a-shit-when-you're-dead. Also spewed vile shit about Palestinians. Good riddance.

I don't believe in "don't speak ill of the dead", I think that's just hypocrisy.

Saturday Night Live with her and Eddie Murphy was classic and funny. Damn YouTube doesn't have many old SNL clips of them...

Great run funny lady, hope you get to talk
