I was just thinking that when I came into work and had to step around the yellow 'piso mojado' sign maintenance put in the (tiled) break room.

It's snowy out. Who doesn't know that tiles get slick when people walk in from snowy conditions?

Also, technology is making it too easy for people to survive in winter. Would be nice to dial that back a bit and get the lazy, stupid people back in the south where they belong.

There have been more Yankees than Georgians in Atlanta since 1996.

It's not that people are lazy and stupid, it's that they're vindictive and likely to sue. It's one thing (and a rare one ) to not know that the floor is slippery when it snows, it's quite another (and significantly more common) to slip by accident and then desire to blame somebody else for the misfortune.

Piso mojado signs, and less polite reminders, are just due diligence. The only other option is stationing somebody there to keep the floor dry.

I understand the litigation mitigation factor, unfortunately. It drives most of our policies these days.

But there are also a lot of really clueless people who slip on the floor even if you put a giant yellow sign in two languages.

If you want to go 'clueless' then the fault is with the building owner who -in all likelihood- installed a tile that wasn't right for the location.  Yes, you can only install certain tiles on floors, not just 'that pretty one.'

You guys should move somewhere more wild west, like China where cities that have frequent rain/snow fall have large areas of public walkway with pretty looking shiny tiles. They are every bit as lethal as they sound and everyone has to learn to adopt a kind of slow shuffle when walking across them. Attempt any kind of speed when walking and you will go flying sooner rather than later.

My city had slate sidewalks. Wish I could get in on some of that, the one I almost got is still sitting in the library's neighbor's back yard. He's a prick. Anyway, not the best sidewalk material when wet/icy.

And yes, I agree 100% that people don't think ahead. I keep trying to make my girlfriend understand not everyone thinks 5 steps (or even 1 step) ahead. They look at tile, 'oh pretty!' and buy it, end of thought. Our maintenance guy not only installed a slick tile, but he put in a marble threshold that I swear can accelerate a wet shoe to mach speed. Derp le derp. And he is always saying 'I should be paid more, I could be a contractor' and then makes the worst possible decisions.

One of my many, many favorites is when he went to touch up the white walls in our bathroom and used a slightly pink paint. Swears he doesn't see it (and might not, I dunno), but thinks we're all lying about it.

Similarly, he swore for months that the new windows in our office (that we can't open, ffs, but engineers are another rant) were one-way. I'm pretty sure he was misunderstanding what 'uv protection' meant  why so serious? So one day when he was mowing I flipped him off and he responded in kind. Myth busted.

Or maybe the leaky flat roof that he does not follow the contractor code (fix the source of the issue, from outside in). We have water damage across several walls (remember: library) and designated buckets for leaks. But the best part is his system of gutters and plastic sheeting held by clamps. I swear there is a couple grand in clamps invested in that stupid system (which also looks like shit for patrons, 'Welcome to the Fred G Sanford Public Library!').

But I digress.

Well, that's what youre supposed to infer at least. Watch it closely enough and you'll see the woman was actually startled by the co-conspirator shouting as the mask came up.

This is "I can tell by the pixels" territory here, but if that were the case I'd expect her to look back at the source of the loud noise and/or flinch away from it, rather than the exact opposite.

Now that I'm watching it on loop it looks like maybe she starts to do that but then quickly switches back to being scared of mask guy.  Maybe they were both making loud noises.

This has been a hoot, but I think we're starting to run a fowl of the mods. We'd better stop it before they quack up. Sam's picture is the canary in the coal mine. Any further bird puns are sure to enforce the pecking order.

I'd continue but I don't want to be pigeon-holed.
