OK I put in the nail and unlocked the Gate. Then I added in a couple of other items I had and unlocked something else. There are currently two empty slots in the resource bin.

Good job yeh that's the other way of freeing up slots it seems, at least that way itemsl get used.

Guess another part of it is putting down some cash for a rifle so we can defend it better. Quite the money sink.

We did pretty good with the fort weapons mostly precise ones, makes up for the shit duelling weapons we got. Also I put in a trouble-ticket about the corrosive acid.

Constructing barracks.

When building, the excess points go to waste rather than toward the next level.  So apparently we should coordinate building instead of just building whatever whenever.

Could I get a fresh invite to town?  I had to leave to do some shopping.

Also, anything that is needed?  I'll be happy to farm/provide cash as I get it.

We need 4 union flags and 6 lassos to unlock the flag.
We need 2 tool boxes and 2 saws to unlock the HQ upgrade.
We need 4 ship's bells and a post horn, rounds, oil and two whiskey to unlock the four towers.

We need 7 wood and 3 barbed wire for the stuff already unlocked. We will need some other stuff going forward:

OK, grabbing Lassos then. BTW, Ship's Bell is from a super high level job.

All the towers need items from high-level jobs:

If you can do the Steering a Paddle Steamer, Mercenary Work, Guarding the Stage Coach, Pony Express or Drilling for Oil, those jobs should probably be top priority.

The towers apparently don't do anything at the moment so I wouldn't build them til we find out. I would just concentrate on getting HQ, resource stock and barracks built up for now. Also the protective barrier would be worth building I think it gives bonus to people standing on it during fort battles.

Here's the level of barracks...

I thought the towers were a bonus, but that it was currently static instead of based on the player's skills.

Headquarters: Framing = Tool boxes, Saws, Maps | Building =Wood, Granite
Barracks: Framing = Cloth, Cotton, Hammer | Building =Wood, Iron Rods
Protective barrier: Framing = Spades, Beaver traps, Wood | Building =Wood, Barbed wire
Flag: Framing = Union Flag, Confederate Flag, Lasso | Building =NONE
Gates: Framing = Sledge hammers, Nails, Planters | Building =Unknown
Adventurer's Tower: Framing = Flags, Post horns | Building =Wood, Iron Rods, Barbed wire
Dueler's Tower: Framing = Flags, Rounds | Building =Wood, Iron Rods, Barbed wire
Worker's Tower: Framing = Flags, Oil | Building =Wood, Iron Rods, Barbed wire
Soldier's Tower: Framing = Flags, Whiskey | Building =Wood, Iron Rods, Barbed wire

Until I read that guide I didn't realise that you needed different materials to build as well as frame the building.

Please don't dump anythng into the resource bin unless it's useful now for HQ or Barracks or Flags or Protective Barrier or Gates (wood, barbed wire, union flags, cloth, cotton, hammers, toolboxes, saws - I think we have enough maps for now).

About to finish another level on resources - please don't fill it up with crap.

Just concentrate on building up HQ and barracks for now, but do one level of protective barrier also.

Ill be done my current job in a couple of hours and it should level me up which is nice. Then I'll still have enough energy to put in 4 hours of building.

Unfortunately I'm out of my duel free status but it's rare that any of the Coppers or Eagles manage to knock me out in the space of a two hour job.

If anyone is wondering which jobs to do to help out - right now we seem to need Union Flags the most.  The job is Guarding the Fort.  It's a pain in the ass.  Took me over 30 hours to get a flag for the quest I needed it on.

I've just heard that the towers & barrier are giving bonuses but only as far as building level 1. Also Xanth the flag only currently lets us name the county so I wouldn't worry too much about that just yet, although would be nice to be the first to name our county :)

Well I got 90ish labour points on Constructing the Resource Stockpile. So I'll just queue 4 hours on it. No dice on the Union flag. Bahah.

For now.  Let's see how far that gets us.

We still need 1 cotton and 2 rolls of cloth and a hammer for next barracks level

1 toolbox for next HQ level

2 barbed wire for gates (I'm working a barbed wire job now)

3 Union flags for Flag

I have some barbed wire that I'll drop in when I get to the fort. I think I have a hammer or two too.
