Out of the frying pan, into the fire.

So funny.

It's on FX on Tuesday nights.

It's Louis C.K. but for 22 mins.  As far as I can tell, every episode is written and directed by him, so it's all him all the time.

It's available on Hulu too.

Last night's episode was pretty creep.  One of the best shows on television.  At times it's pretty fucking avante-garde

I tried to watch it but couldn't really stand it after about 20 minutes of the first episode. I'm not one who shies away from depressing, cynical shit obviously, but it was too fucking cynical even for me.

We love this show, but we love all that is Louis CK. Glad to see his last TV wife get a cameo. His old show was so awesome. The new one is good, but the old one was really, really good. I do like the way the new one bounces all over the place.

Very excited to see him in Albany.

Give it a second look.  Reminds me of the first season of Seinfeld.  Unless you didn't dig early Seinfeld, which a lot of people don't.

I mean, last night's episode featured about a minute of Louie in a bathroom calling out a guy who was about to stick his dick in a glory hole with the word "heaven" and an arrow drawn in marker pointing to it.  Then the next 21 minutes went through a dream sequence (through the glory hole) time warp where it's entirely about Louie as a little kid and being in Catholic school.  A nun recruits a rather macabre doctor to explicitly describe the torture and execution of Jesus Christ via medical lexicon to the class in order to impress upon them the gravity of Christ's sacrifice.

Young Louie is so freaked out he runs to the church in the middle of the night with pliers and removes the statue of Jesus from the cross, and is found the next morning cradling the statue of Christ's body with tear-stained cheeks while whimpering he's sorry.  Then his Mom and he have a heart-to-heart where she confides in him that religion is all bullshit so he'll feel better, and says he doesn't have to go to Catholic school anymore.  Then they head off to get donuts. Credits roll.  Seriously.

Like I said.  Pretty fucking avante-garde.

I love this show. It's just so random.

Stephen Root as the creepy dentist was comedy gold a couple of episodes back.

And then the episode before that, where it was about the bully that basically emasculated Louie in front of his date and then Louie following the kid home and talking to his dad on the steps? That was good TV.

Until last night's episode I really wasn't sure, but this show is amazing.
It started out with a very different tone than where it's ending up lately.
The last three or so episodes have been "sucker punch heavy" part way into them.
At first I almost didn't like this or at least wasn't sure what was going on.... Now? I'm completely floored.
I've never seen a show that can move me from laughing hysterically to feeling almost uncomfortable over the course of about 5 minutes.

I can't wait to see where it goes if it sticks around.

The Christ episode was really tits.

Man, that was an epic drunk tweeting binge he went on last night.  The highlight was the one directed to Palin's tweet feed: "kudos to your dirty hole, you fucking jackoff cunt-face jazzy wondergirl."

Wow.

That's the one we try and show to people who come over and haven't seen it. The things he says to that woman are so ridiculous it's great.
Thinking about episodes...
I think the first episode is actually a solid intro to the whole show. They did a good job on that. I especially like the Bully one though because of the ending. Didn't work out at all. Sounds about right.

I've only seen the first 4-5 episodes of the first season so I guess I should catch up before the new season, not that there's really any continuity. Futurama starts up again Thursday as well.

While it's still worth watching, it doesn't seem to be as funny this season.  Heartbreak

I watched a few episodes of this because of the thread.  I thought it was funny, also, depressing.  The depression easily eclipsed the funny however so I'm definately not watching anymore.  I like to feel better after watching a comedy not worse...  Probably not an issue if you aren't inclined to depression yourself and don't empathize with him.
