I would've liked Deeds better if they didn't turn into "farm 23486123856238564236 slugs."

Those were dumb but bugged me less, generally. It was mostly the farming level 5 mobs that bugged me. A GAZILLION OF THEM. And it got worse from there!

I did like the trait part, though.

people interested in raiding are going to love that  swamp poop

I don't prefer it to having no such system at all with stat boosts, but it's a lot better than grinding out AA/PA experience or Deeds, which all need to be shot into the Sun.

Exploration (and all other) badges in CoX were pretty cool. Of course, they play out rather differently when you can fly.

So far I'm pretty much ignoring datacrons, I spotted one on Korriban and one on Dromund Kaas which I picked up. But if you don't go looking for them they can't really hurt you.

As I've played through nearly 40 levels solo and consistently a couple of levels below intended level, I don't think it is really slowing me down to be without the +2 stats.

We can agree to disagree on AA/PA, but having to do dungeon Deeds for Virtues is worse than the Fleet Datacron and you had to do a lot more of them.

Okay, so is there a downside to leveling via PvP other than I'll I'll have way outleveled the PvE content when I go back to do storylines? It just seemsso much faster, makes a ton more money, and I don't care as much about keeping up with gear since it'll be shit whether I update every two levels like I've been doing or don't upgrade at all. Also, if there's no real drawbacks, is there a point of diminishing returns where it's better to do PvE quests?

There's no real drawback that I know of, other than outleveling your story quests, but if you only give a shit about the story part of them and don't mind facerolling the mobs involved, even that's not really one.

I guess there's also the "your companion's rep might suffer" aspect, as the non-story-mandatory quests will give rep gains as well.

Without story progression you won't get companions, a spaceship, or the ability to craft efficiently I guess.

If I were you I'd at least think about story questing maybe staying a few levels ahead of the story.

Do I get epic schematics from space disenchanting blue stuff, or are the epics just crit crafts?

Yes, purple schematics are gained from disenchanting/RE-ing blue items.

so basically there's no point in trying to get an epic before cap. Unless you hate money that is.

I don't know if every single recipie has a purple for it but you can always sell them, there are a few trade skills with profitable niche areas.  If you are biochem it is worth making the purples because it makes the med packs and stim buffs reusable.  You have to have biochem to use them so they might not sell that well unless you have a lot impatient raiders and pvp people.

Now that I have capped Cybertech, I am starting to RE my created blues and so far I have two armoring purples which I am saving my mandy iron for so when I hit 49, I can drop them into my armor. Still trying to get my mod blues to give me the purple scheme. Once that is done, then it will be about modding out my companions. However, throughout leveling, I'd RE the greens for a blue scheme and then make those. Never tried for a purple since I would outlevel most armor/mods so quickly. Got a purple armor to drop and replaced it within the day since it was outleveled by my blue crafted stuff. I figure now that I am at cap, I can settle in and start concentrating on trying for the epic mods.

That's what I mean, I'm cybertech and the blues sell very nicely and more than cover the expenses of leveling the profession, no point trying to get a purple.

I've also gotten into the habit of buying republic specific oranges from the empire AH realy cheap, transfering them through nar shadaa and putting them up on the republic AH for insane profits. And that's going both ways. Yesterday morning's run netted me something along the lines of 50k profit for 20 minutes of runinng through load screens.

Actually, back when RE was actually working for me, the purples had really long legs. I'm still wearing several. They're really quite good compared to just about anything else you can pick up outside maybe pvp or doing FPs enough to get fully kit.

I am sure I'll get around to fleshing out the purpz when I start in on my Trooper, but when catassing through the game, waiting to proc a purple scheme by going through a ton of blues that you had to wait to get the ingredients for doesn't work out with said poopsocking.

I do agree, I had a purple mod and armoring on my chest piece for quite a long while in the 20s.

Making purple medpacks worked out well, they last a lot longer then armor/weapons seem to while leveling.

My plan was to set up my republitard alts by selling a couple grey items for 100k to my Empire duders. But getting an alt to Nar Shaddaa, heh.

how long does it take for the respec to drop down in price? I've been running around as DPS when questing and respecing to a healer realtively often for flashpoints. It's getting a bit pricy.

There is. After the confirmation dialog asked me to pay about 8000 credits, I got a message saying something like "It's been a week. Your counter has been reset." and then the respec was free. Not sure if that means you have to go a full week without any respeccing or if it counts from your first free respec.

Has anyone found something that correctly explains all the secondary stats like Alacrity/Power/Surge and how the benefit each class? I'm drawing a blank right now, but I ran into something on the weekend that I had never even SEEN before.

Put mouse over the attributes listed on your character sheet, the ones for damage, defence etc. The tooltips will have breakdown how each stat affects them, if at all.

Probably didn't think there was a stat that only affected your companion? I didn't know that until just now.

It would have made sense if it was a companion only piece of gear.

Edit; Ah Fuck it, it IS sitting right there on my char tab. I have no idea how i kept missing it.
