Lamaros, I think we're only certain Iain has access to play tonight, so you may want to bug him on steam.

If Fianna Chulain do bow out in the next couple of days because of internet access we'll arrange an alternate fixture.

On a happier note, I'm pretty pleased with how these pairings are working out.

Yeah I'm here tonight and I can't guarantee anythign after that so if LAMAROS is around, please ping me on Steam and I'll play tonight. I may be able to play form my father-in-law's place but I really don't know if his ~5 year old PC or his shitty internet connection will handle Bloodbowl.

Ooooh, I get to play against Ingmar.  Looking forward to this as it's been a while.

Yeah, I've enjoyed the pairings.  It keeps things very competitive.

It was the only time a team scored two touchdowns from a single play!

I've been designing a commentator system and dealing with voice actors and so on at work recently and the whole experience has really driven home how bad the commentators in Bloodbowl are.

The thing that gets me is that the lines were very definitely written by a French guy rather than a native English speaker (I say this as someone who spent 5 years proofreading English text produced by French people), however the voice actors are clearly native English speakers. One has to wonder why they didn't correct the clumsy phrasings? When I wrote lines that were too British for the American voice actors we used, they were only too happy to suggest changes that would make it more natural sounding.

If Iain has to drop out, the plan will be to break up one of the middle ranking fixtures, and have one team play Lamaros, while the other plays Celer.

Tiebreakers etc go screwy if we have a top side play bottom directly.

But hopefully won't be necessary :)

Pound Pound Mantrain and my Bridge Burners tied at 1 all.  It was actually a much more enjoyable game then the score reflects.  Megrim won the toss and kicked off to me in the first half, getting a very nice kick about 3 squares back from the LoS.  It of course was caught by a level 1 zombie.  Megrim did a really good job of hemming me in and eventually knocked the ball free late in the half, KOing both my wights in the process.  With just a few rounds left in the half Blend, one of my rookie ghouls, ran down for a 1D hit w/o block on his ball carrier and killed himself in spectacular fashion, earning himself the MVP swamp poop

The second half started with a shallow kick and a blitz, allowing one of my werewolves to catch his own kick and me to get a few of my other players close to him.  This of course turned into a giant, ugly scrum that stretched from center field to about 2/3rds of the way to his goal line.  It likely would have ended badly for me, but his Yeti rolled double skulls and lonered the reroll, knocking himself early in the half.  After much shoving and blocking and failed dodging (on my part at least)  I strung together a few lucky blocks and managed to run in a round 16 TD with my surviving ghoul.

BYE 2-1 over S.P.H.I.N.X. (SPHINX!)

Yet another game lost on a Turn 16 TD, as the injury of several TGs was far too much for the Khemri to overcome.  Ohhhhh, I see.

Another game, another tie. Calidor Fancypants tie Midnight Bleat Train 1-1

In the end, I just couldn't keep up with the KOs and none of my guys would wake up. I spent the entire second half down to five or six guys. Even then, I nearly pulled off some elf magic at the end but rolled a 1 on my long bomb.

My thrower FINALLY leveled up (my throwing game has been entirely lineman based due to shit passing rolls and Sunny weather) and took Nerves of Steel. Despite a spate of ties, I'm well positioned going forward.

Yeah I haven't played with the announcers on in ages -- just too annoying.

eldaec, I am still on vacation and computerless. I will be back at home next Thursday evening, relatively late, which mostly leaves Friday and (I think?) Saturday to play our game before the deadline. I could play Friday evening or anytime on Saturday, PST.

The poor goobo's had nothing go right. The bomber has his own bomb thrown back at him and knock down 2 other goblins with him. The trolls couldn't pass. The leaper couldn't pick up the ball.

The only reason the game didn't end 6-0 was from some bad luck on the elves side, but not enough to prevent an easy victory. Still, I am yet again down an elf for my next game. No long term injures though, as I was very worried about the goblin secret weapons, so spent a lot of the first half blitzing them.

I'm in the US but may be able to play. I don't yet know if the computer at my father-in-law's place can run BB as I can't log into my Steam account (and thus can't install BB) until I can get back into my Google account (see the thread in General Discussion about that). As soon as I know whether I can play I'll post to let you know.

Going Forth By Day 2 - 0 Emperors of the Pitch

Emperors suffered their first loss in nine games and both of their star blitzers are out for the last game of the tournament.  With the D&M cup within my sight I am now sensing my dreams crumbling!  Oh, the humanity!

That does make the run in more interesting, we'll have up to 4 teams on 4  DRILLING AND MANLINESS s, which would imply those 4 teams playing off in the final round to see who goes into the ULTIMATE DECIDER match, unless the process gets complicated by pairings not being possible because too many of the four teams have already met.

At this point I've played every team with three  :drill:s except for Chanson Dada and Pro Elves won their game so they'll be at three and a half  :drill:s  Chances are good I'll play one of those.

I'm just hoping for no Khemri if I make it to an ULTIMATE DECIDER.

Howls and Bones 1 - Wrong Games 1

This game was a lot of pushing and shoving for not a lot of reward. I kicked off first, the ball moved around a bit and somehow ended up in a vampire's hands within one turn of scoring. Not to worry, I had enough within blitzing range I could get a hit on him. So I take a 2D block with a Flesh Golem at midfield and sans any rerolls, get 2 skulls. His vamp scores leaving me one turn to do nothing. Luckily, I had managed to badly hurt one thrall, and another had been sent off so that when the 2nd half started I was 2 men up. On receiving the kickoff, I picked the ball up deep and started pushing my way forward. My level 3 werewolf got the ball from a handoff one square over midfield and ran it 3 spaces from the endzone. With all of his players either out of range or locked up in tackle zones, I thought he was safe. But both a thrall and a vamp managed to get to my werewolf and slapped him silly, coughing up the ball. He ran it back up the sidelines but got trapped with the vamp and two thralls up against the edge of the field. Two turns and the vamp with the ball went surfing off the pitch. The ball ended up in a kicking around after a ghoul attempted pickup and failed, but a wight picked it up within range of scoring. Needing a dodge by a vamp to blitz the ball carrier, the dodge failed, the vamp hit the dirt and my wight scored the equalizer on the final play of the game.

One of my ghouls leveled and promptly rolled doubles. He now has Str 4 and his role will change significantly. The scoring wight also leveled, and picked up guard.

The good news is that it looks as though I can run BB on the PC here. It will run like molasses but it will actually load. However, as I'm visiting I won't be as glued to the PC as I would be at home so randomly pinging me (or even finding me) on Steam is unlikely to work. I'm in a GMT-7 timezone and I'll check my PMs here a couple of times a day. I'll be able to play after about 7pm most evenings.

Lamaros and I played our game after a false start. The PC here at my father-in-law's is pretty anaemic and the first time we tried to play, everything locked up on my side, I could hear the commentary and the dice roll FX but I had a completely black screen and no cursor. A restart and turning everything down to minimum seemed to fix it and we started again.

Mostly the match can be summed up with the words 'Elven Bullshit'. I kicked first, got some players deep, got the ball and scored. Lamaros pushed back, nearly got ganked but a fluffed dodge roll on a Wardancer blitz let his Pestigor break free and he scored on his last turn. For the second half I pulled out the classic two turn Elven TD with some bullshit throwing to a Nerves of Steel catcher surrounded by Nurgle Warriors who then dodged away from all of his markers to score. Lamaros tried to break out for a quick score rather than cage up and bash his way down the pitch and I was able to stall him long enough to break the ball out, snap it up the pitch to a lone Elf and score a third on my last turn. Lamaros contented himself with breaking one of my Line-Elves on his last turn (the only injury he inflicted all match actually) and that was the game. 3-1 to Fianna Chulain and Lamaros has uploaded it to BBManager as I don't have it installed here.

Aye, nasty stuff with those elves not getting hurt and avoiding my tentacles, disturbing presences and etc when it really mattered.

Burnt all my rerolls on double skulls but then got turnovers anyway (I got about 7 double skulls for the game). Blocked at 55% (me) to 58% despite having block and a bit of tackle, with 2D average against 1.5.

Oh well! I guess the Immortals can't win the trophy for this one.
