Metal is definitely not a label I would associate with King's X.

What this thread obviously needs is Hungarian metal youtube links. Thankfully I am here to deliver the goods (or is that 'bads'? ) Sear Bliss (growly black metal with trumpets and ridiculous accents... not that it matters due to the aforementioned growling) Mindflowers (instrumental prog... hey, this one is in my playlist!) Thy Catafalque (mostly instrumental... they really like that distortion pedal) Dalriada (folk metal with obligatory singer chick... yeah I know. Don't look at me!) Depresszió (random pop metal thing) Ossian (attack of the 80s) Superbutt (high-budget CGI alert )

Sear Bliss actually sounded pretty cool. The rest... not so much.

IMO, a big reason for their lack of commercial success was that they didn't fit neatly into any genre/sub-genre. And partly because they were wrongly labeled as "christian" music, and everyone knows that metal is for The Devil! They were signed to a metal record company (at least I think it was nothing but metal acts back then), toured with metal acts, etc... I realize they don't exactly define the term "metal", though.

I am proud to say that I have never (that I know of) heard an Insane Clown Posse "song".

I vaguely heard them in the distance at the last woodstock. Worked with a guy in the warehouse who LOVED them. I guess he was a Juggalo. Used to let the guys bring in music as long as it was up-tempo (good working music). One spin and that was the last of ICP.

Every time I see mention of ICP I think of when I started playing Quake in college I was running around with some GWAR related name and some kid said to me "hey man if you like GWAR you should check out Insane Clown Posse".
Told him that I was not interested in listening to a bunch of no talent hacks, then promptly asked the server admin (who lived across the hall in the dorm) to boot him.

I agree with his list. Which amuses me. The Scorpions re-recording their hits and some 60's covers as a final send-off album? I'd feel ripped off too. Shame to see a band with a quite impressive catalog go out so pathetically.
And Juggalos\ICP are a bunch of fucking idiots.

Cover albums can be totally awesome. But, probably not cover albums by the Scorpions.

I like a lot of things, but some rock opera / instrumental is nice from time to time. Right now I'm on an alternative kick (Bush, Dead Confederate, Broken Bells, the XX) and New Orleans rock (??) like the Heavy and the Black Keys. Throw in some dance-ish electronica (Bassnectar, Glitch Mob). Trying to get back into more mainstream rock, but nothing is that appealing - foo fighters? eh. I don't listen to much metal though, so yeah GWAR and Mastodon doesn't do it for me. How about some Van Halen?

The new Van Halen album I've heard. It's the one with David Lee Roth back as singer, but with Wolfgang Van Halen on bass instead of Michael Anthony (because Eddie apparently got pissy when Anthony played with Sammy Hagar - Eddie is a vindictive dickbag). The CD is DAMN GOOD. It's very much in the mold of pre-Diver Down VH, almost no synth to be heard, very guitar heavy. Roth is in prime form. There isn't a bad track on the thing.

the first single Tattoo was... well fuck it was this bad: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PvAvMTyIvJ4&feature=relatedthat said, I have heard that was the worst track on the album. I just haven't sacked up enough to actually check the whole album out. Every fiber in my body says that this has to be horrible.

I browsed through some of the samples on the tubes, Tattoo is definitely the worst of the lot. Saying there isn't a single bad track is a bit much. That said, I'm leaning towards buying this. There's enough good stuff, even if they threw a few unnecessary wrenches in (what the hell is that feedback sound in The Trouble With Never?! Ruins a good track). You know what album it really made me want? The demos. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88p5YmmyQ_kthen this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=og7hRK8kBdgBottom line on the new VH: no Michael Anthony vox is a huge loss.

Rumor has it that Chickenfoot's new album is better. With that you get MA's backing vocals.

I just tracked down VH's The Demography instead.
4-disc bootleg of various demos.

I actually liked Tattoo and thought it was one of the catchier tunes on the album. Different strokes.
