God that's evil.  It's even worse that the ring sticks around after I look away from the image, like it's burned into my eyes.   swamp poop

Need to add, don't blink.

What's so cool about an animated gif?

Or am I not getting it?

You forgot to stare at the cross/plus sign in the middle. Without blinking. For about 5 seconds.

Safari might animate it too slow if you are using that.

Most people who keep their focus on the cross will find the outer ring of magenta dots seems to disappear after a few revolutions of the cyan dot, leaving only the cyan rotating dot.  After a few more revolutions that will disappear as well.  Look away afterwards and a negative image of cyan dots in a ring with a rotating magenta dot will be superimposed on your vision.

I think the 'trick' is the purple dots disapear if ones focuses on the cross, rather than  looking at the picture...ahh...in a normal way/normaly (my english, sorry.)

Edit: *sigh* I think I worded my reply poorly. This is what I meant to say:

Damn, you're right, the "cyan dot" is just the negative image of the lack of a magenta dot.  Tripindicular, dude.

I can't help but think back to that terrible movie I saw a few weeks ago... uhmmm "He's just not that into you!" Ok, now that that's off the tip of my tongue, one of the guys in it was trying to sell houses to gay people so he gayed himself up but didn't want to appear too gay.  This strikes me as going full retard. Now it's possible that Julie is, as she put "anything but average" and maybe, hey, the homosexual community likes this sort of thing. But it strikes me as trying too hard. We have a chick with a goatee, abhorrent use of "anything but average," and a FABULOUS community. There's too much tongue in that cheek. I can't read the little yellow box, so I don't know if it gets worse.

It lacks context, but is  DRILLING AND MANLINESS nevertheless.

There's a whole series of comics on the guy. He's been doing this for at least a year or two now.

Yeah Clevinger runs nuklearpower.com which has been doing 8-Bit Theater forever. His partnership that led to Atomic Robo is his first foray as a writer into professional comics.

Unh that's very cool. However the impression of a cyan dot never goes away for me. The magenta ones disappear really quickly but that damn cyan one is still with me  swamp poop

The dot looks flourescent green to me.  After two or three full rotations the magenta dots blank out, but then they slowly fade back in.

To be fair after two or three full rotations I've been known to black out and then slowly fade back in myself  Oh ho ho ho. Reallllly?

I see it as fluorescent green too, and I see it right away.  The magenta dots go away after only one time around, but only if I keep my eyes perfectly still.  If they twitch even a little bit the magenta all pops back in.
