I like that.

Of course, I always thought Calvin would end up with Glasses like his old man.

Sad? No, sad is the "Modern Calvin and Hobbes" strip I saw where they put Calvin on Prozac and Hobbes turns into a stuffed toy in the middle of a sentence as Calvin is doing his homework.

THAT is sad.

Different kind of sad. More feelings of nostalgia, loss of youth, best friends from childhood you'll never see again, circle of life... that kind of sad.

No this:

I've seen several people claim that its the "Last" Calivn comic, but Bill Watterson didn't even make it...he's way too nice to do something like that.

This is the actual last calvin comic:

Calvin & Hobbes, The Far Side, and Outlands were really the only American "comics/funnies" I ever really liked. Ever. Calvin, especially, was a fucking masterpiece. I still tear up when I read a few of them. And I did when I was younger also.

Right now about the only one I can stomach is Frazz, which has been speculated in a lone gunman way as Watterson in hiding.. but that theory does not hold any salt.

Not in the least.  Watterson HATED with a passion all the buillshit he had to go through to do comics.  He hated even more the pressure that kept being put on him to merchandise and market Calvin and Hobbes.  He penned this into several of his books, most notably the Tenth Anniversary Book, and has given some interviews about it to webcomics places over the last few years.  Last I read he continued to be baffled that anyone liked Calvin as a person, and was happier painting than he ever was doing the comic.

The artist behind Frazz definitely has Watterson's style down, but if you've read both comics you see that the outlandish scenarios, creativity, pushing of boundaries and intellectualism that C&H had is lacking in Frazz.

Yeah that's the one I meant, obviously describing it's details wrong.  The one I saw was in color, too.   Yes, he's also way too nice to do anything like that.  Not to mention his love of his own work and it's integrity as art.  Doing something like that would've just been pissing all over it.

Wow, that Calvin and Hobbes comic was actually disturbingly sad.

The description people gave made me laugh. I pictured something that was funny.

I can see how the premise could be made funny.

I hope they weren't attempting to go for funny.
