Looks like you would have to turn sideways to be able to walk between most of those houses.  Is mojave land so expensive they couldn't have spread it out a bit?

Because they need even bigger lawns to waste more water on?

You don't make money as a developer from big lots. You make it with number of units.

Fill it with sand for all I care.  It's just that smashing the houses up against each other like that drives me crazy.

Not totally true.  You have lot premiums for size and larger lots also mean bigger, more expensive houses. Build cost PSF will still be in the same range for a, 4000 sq ft house or a 1500 sq ft house. However markup and profit will be better on the 4000 because those people will have more and be willing to pay more.  We made more money on a single luxury home than 4 condos or low single family homes. Plus each sewer water and power tap adds that much more to overall costs and that's not insignificant.

Cities, however, love population density.  Infrastructure is expensive and more people is more taxes. They encourage smaller lots and denser development on a regular basis.

Now granted these are generalities based on the Midwest but that's my experience cd across a decade and multiple builder/ developers.

California is a completely different beast.  In San Diego you'd see those development areas where every house was within 5 feet or so of the next, advertised as "starting in the low 800's" for the 2 bedroom 1 bath townhouses.  It just went up even more ridiculously from there.  Developers buy a chunk of land and cram as many tiny little houses in the space as they possibly could.  The lot size actually wouldn't go up for a 3 or 4 bedroom, it would just be a 2 story vs. 1 story or no garage, etc.  Price goes up, house size goes up, lot size remains the same tiny little front yard and back yard.  Let's also not forget those HOA dues to the tune of $300-500/mo that you were required to pay on top of the house price...

As its title suggests, Golden Marriage Jewel Days is a dating simulation game that revolves around the theme of marriage. The game features six adorable heroine characters, all of which the player has a chance at falling in love and tying the knot with. To hype things up, the creators of the game rolled out a “Sweet Newlywed Life Campaign” encouraging fans to experience an actual “newlywed” life with their favorite female lead.

The concept of the campaign was simple. The makers would present six lucky winners with live-sized cardboard standees of their chosen character (one winner per character), and the winners would in turn have to send photo evidence of themselves enjoying their newlywed lives with their 2-D brides. Registrations were closed in February, the standees were sent out, and here are the blissful fans with their Golden Marriage spouses!

aaaand that's too Japan for me.

I should get back to nature, too.  You know, like going to a shop for groceries instead of the computer.  Maybe a condo in the woods that doesn't even have a health club or restaurant attached.  Buy a car with only two cup holders or something. -Signe

What a colossal waste.

I remember from this past summer standing up on a hill in Joshua Tree, looking down on Palm Springs in the distance...

It was July. It was hot. There was no natural water to be found...yet you have this place, with its lush lawns and golf courses.  swamp poop

Palm Springs does have "Springs" in the name for a reason. (But you're still not wrong.)

And Las Vegas means "The Meadows". Ground water and population do not mix in the American Southwest. Not for long.

She was also Diamondback in "Near Dark" with Lance Henriksen and Bill Paxton and then she was in Lethal Weapon 2 as the police woman who got killed while diving into a swimming pool.

Random other trivia: another character in LW2, the South African who is executed by Joss Ackland in the office with the plastic sheeting, was played by Mark Rolston who was Pvt Drake - the other smartgun operator alongside Vasquez in Aliens. Both of them  went on to appear in consecutive episodes of "24: Day 3" (but not in the same episode unfortunately).

Even more random trivia: one of the other cops in LW2 who has scenes with Goldstein was played by Dean Norris, better known as Hank from "Breaking Bad". A lot of people already know that he played the mutant, Tony, in Total Recall but he also had a role in a couple of the same episodes of "24: Day 2" which had Xander Berkeley playing George Mason. Before that, both Norris and Berkeley were in Terminator 2; Norris played a SWAT captain and Berkeley played Todd - John Connor's stepdad and the guy with the milk carton who was killed by Jenette Goldstein in the picture above.

I should probably be embarrassed that I know all this shit.  Oh ho ho ho. Reallllly?

Oddly depressing.

Unsurprising. The villain has been the "cool" thing since at least the mid 70s.  Good and right and true are lame in the popular mindset.

Imperial designs are more aesthetically pleasing, and since it's a game...
