Ok, I must be missing the thing everybody is freaking out about.  All I see is a blurry pic of a huge cruise ship in some rough water.  What exactly is it doing that's so scary?  Doesn't look like its tilted sideways or anything...

This happened to me too. I have to open .gifs in a new tab to get them to animate. Happened with the baseball gifs too.

Man, it seems like using a facist villian as a mascot during a protest is kinda odd. What are they protesting against, civil rights?

A real question? Cos the whole thing's been kind of big news in Europe.

I had to look it up. Then again I don't follow news, and it's the weekend. There's like playoffs in NBA and NHL going on.

A half assed question. I'm aware of the riots, and heard some news, but being a continent away, I'm not sure I understand the situation well enough.

Government very religious with a secular population/militar, in a nutshell.  People had a hippy sit in to save a park; riot police busted it up and tens of thousands are rising up.  Lots of dead piling up and its snowballing; uncomfirmed reports of military protecting people from police.

Check out thread in politics.  Its a pretty big deal.

No Nerf, but I put a link to this very thread and I said that you all can guarantee for my purity. I even mentioned your case, and see if they can take a look at your lawn from a Michigan perspective.

I spent two weeks in Turkey when I was in the military.  Great place and people.  I hope the secular folks 'win'.

Makes my inner engineer weep.  I'm pretty sure that a good stiff wind (like you might get on, say, the coast, where you would typically install a lighthouse) would crumple that thing in half.

No, the structure would safely channel the wind into a vertical vortex which would...then..hmm.

The structure also doesn't protect the lighthouse operator from the elements when he has to go and light the signal because its dark and stormy. It very obviously doesn't work.

Its still cool though

There's no bitter. Lindelof has no idea how to craft a cogent story, and the people employing him should be ashamed.

Here's a pic!

If only there was some way for them to control the light remotely.  Oh ho ho ho. Reallllly?

I'd say that structure is possible, with the right combination of materials. And assuming the sucker who does need to go up once a year to inspect stuff doesn't mind the hella swaying...

The outer shell would need a different profile, but it would make a pretty cool vertical-axis wind generator.

Until you realize that she cannot close her mouth.

In fairness, though, that does look like pretty good work.  I seem to remember her looking far more ridiculous...must have corrected some of the earlier surgery mistakes.
