Yeah, the fingers are the weak point here. But its a good way to cull the gene pool. So more power to them. They can even feed the animals down in the woods with the remains. Win-Win.

More charity awesomeness.

Don't know how many people read The Oatmeal here or are aware of the recent shenanigans with FunnyJunk but... tl;dr =http://theoatmeal.com/blog/funnyjunk_lettera website is suing Oatmeal for $20k because they are dicks so he said FU, I'll raise that money and give it to charity. He ended up raising $220k. This is what he did with it before giving it to charity:

Oh its even better than that. The lawyer who sent the initial demand letter basically tried to sue the internet for mocking him (in addition to trying to stop distribution of the money to the charities).

Yes. According to his wife, it's because we're all Nazi anarcho-fascists or something.

Oddly enough, being a Nazi Anarcho-Fascist isn't illegal, you would think a lawyer would know that.

It's a video, but it's pretty awesome since the person in the video is up and walking immediately

My dumb friend would actually use a video like that as his reason.  He's convinced he would rather be "thrown clear" than be strapped into the car during an accident.

There's a reason they don't show videos of what happens when someone is "thrown clear" of a car.  Mainly because it isn't pretty.  That dude is the extremely lucky exception.

This is the most common 'reason.'  It's terrible, flawed logic and a complete misunderstanding of physics.  Not to mention they look at you dumbly when you say "so now you're lying in the street.. where other cars aren't seeing you because they're looking at the wreck you created."

The other "reason" is 'it's uncomfortable' or "I heard seatbelts kill more people than they save. It's all just a feel-good government conspiracy."

I look at it this way. You're too dumb to buckle-up we don't need you in the gene pool.

I don't forget to buckle up. Ever. It's so instilled in to me, I feel completely wrong even sitting in my car without the seat belt on. I've heard people say they don't wear it because of comfort - I don't actually feel like I have proper control of my car if I don't have my seat belt on - almost like its bonding me to the vehicle. Weird.

Once had a five minute argument with a cop about it, because I took my seat belt off too smoothly when he pulled me over for something else - he didn't see me actually reach across to undo it, so he accused me of not wearing it. I won that argument on pure stubbornness (then got two tickets for speeding and not renewing my license...)

I have a 19 inch long reminder for why you should always wear your seat belt (scar that runs from next to the sternum to just under the shoulder blade on my right side).  Clinical death tends to be an effective conditioning mechanism, I literally *can't* move the car without buckling in first.

Then you get the flip side in my wife.  She was in a pretty bad accident when she was about 18, vehicle rolled multiple times and she was thrown out.  She was told later that if she had been wearing her seat belt she would have been trapped in and crushed to death.  (A very rare exception I know, but still happened.)

To be slightly on topic, a picture my wife took a few weeks ago.

The easy to miss part of that photo - the siding on the left side of the building in the center being blown right off.

Had a really excellent wreck here bout 8 years ago, 6 kids killed, the only guy that got thrown clear would have made it. Except the tree with the branches through his chest and right eye socket had something to say about it. (Not a one was wearing their belt.)

I have been in three wrecks where the car literally disintegrated around me and the only reason i am still alive is because i wore my seat belt. I constantly piss of people that drive with me because i refuse to do shit in a car until everyone is buckled up.
