It's been surprisingly difficult trying to find a video of Joro spiders ballooning around.

They're pretty! Hopefully they aren't an ecological menace. Apparently they eat some other species of invasive bug that previously didn't have any local predators, so that's cool. As of 2020, their impact on their new ecosystem is unknown. They have been observed catching the brown marmorated stink bug, another invasive species that native spiders have not been known to eat,[9] and some researchers reportedly hope these spiders also will consume mosquitoes and flies.[10] ( wiki)

Cool. Love orb weaver type spiders because they are creepy as hell compared to the fuzzy tarantula types. Only shitty part is orb weavers spin some huge fucking webs - I have enough problems walking thru regular crab spider webs...

Say this comment on Hacker News which probably explains why there are no videos of what I was looking for -- i.e. giant spiders floating around in the wind: Worth mentioning is that it is very young spiderlings, not adults, who engage in "ballooning" to disperse from their natal web. You don't need to worry about giant spiders with four-inch legspans falling on your head! Or not more than usually, at least - the spiders drifting out of the sky will be only at most perhaps the size of a matchhead, and even more harmless than they would be when full-sized.

Jesus, didn't anybody read Charlotte's Web? Ballooning spiders are teeny-weeny you'd never notice them.
