Pffffftt the game comes out next Wednesday for 25 money but it's Early Access so... no coop and won't be in until 2020. What's the point?
it's got co-op if you're in the same room.

In the meantime, some friends convinced me to get into Tabeltop Simulator. My mind is blown. It's one of the most beautiful pieces of software I've ever seen, and the best bang for my buck EVER since what I got for $20 is simply impossible to measure. Including yes the whole Gloomhaven experience. I can't even begin... I didn't believe it was this good and this easy and sweet to play games with your friends, but it turns out it's perfection and more.

I agree on so many levels. Actually getting into this room where my distant online friends were playing Warhammer Nightvault on a perfectly set up table changed my mind. Then I found out that there is everything available, including BattleTech, and I lost it.

Because the Switch is the only console worth owning in 2019?

Because Nintendo coughed up the money to have it made.

Scooped up exclusivity or paid for development directly? Hate the former, but I can dig the latter. I would really like MUA3 on the PS4, tho.

It's published by Nintendo so, yeah, they paid for it. I.e. it's like Bayonetta 2 or the upcoming Astral Chain, which was/is being developed by Platinum Games but published by Nintendo and so are exclusive to Nintendo platforms, and not like Octopath Traveler which was developed and published by Square Enix but was a time-limited Switch exclusive.

Switch is the best console Ninty has released since the SNES, or generously the GBA.
I don't see what there's not to like about it... as a portable gaming system.

I am not interested in portable gaming so more power to everyone who loves it, but exclusives? That's low.

It docks. Half the time our Switch is played, it's on the rather large TV using a non-crappy controller.

I have never plugged mine into a TV. But yes, it even comes with the dock.

Last time I checked the Switch does everything the PS4 and the Xbox do but way worse. Except for portability of course. Meaning, if a game is also available on the Switch it runs and looks worse than the other consoles. And it's not even that cheaper cause you have to pay for a real controller immediately which is 70 dollars/euros. Unless that has changed, what's exactly to like about the Switch?

You can play Xenoblade Chronicles 2 while you poop. Zelda: Breath of the Wild, again, while pooping.
I was able to play a good amount of Dragon's Dogma, Stardew Valley, Darkest Dungeon, Hollow Knight (eh, didn't care for it) while on vacation or business trips.
It's not fired up every day here as my son is obsessed with the new MLB: the Show, and I have a pretty serious Path of Exile problem, but it's the most fun I've had with a Nintendo product since Eternal Darkness on the Gamecube.

Exclusives*. Also many of the cross-platform games run "good enough" on the Switch so if it's something you might want to play portably you might as well just get it on the Switch. * Ignoring the fact that many of them came from the Wii U

Look, I said it before it even launched: I am gonna buy a Switch just for the new Shin Megami Tensei when it comes out, so I don't *hate* it. It just doesn't give me anything at the moment. If I had bought it in the past two years, I think I would have used it literally zero times. Actually that's not true, I would have tried so hard to like Smash Ultimate only to find that no it just isn't something I enjoy. I know this cause my roommates had the Switch and that's the only thing they ever had that I wanted to play, for a few nights. Oh, and Xenokblade Chronicles, that seemed like something I'd like. But none of this is worth a couple hundred dollars for me. I think it's a fact: the Switch is great because it's portable. If you like me don't play when you leave your chair, it's useless.
PS: In bed I have a gaming laptop.

The Switch isn't something to really compare to the PS4/XBONE. For a PC gamer though, the Switch is by far the best purchase because portability + exclusives.

Legend of Aria out on Steam August 6th. This is the best Ultima Online clone ever. It does some things better than UO and some worse. It's not bad at all, it is just dated and it could use more features considering it came out twenty years after the original (at the moment there's just a fraction of the content you had in UO circa 2003), but overall it is the best UO-like game I've ever tried and I definitely had fun with it for a couple of weeks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=os-wKHDheNM&feature=em-lsp

Note that Three Houses is as much if not more so a Persona-style social/relationship game (complete with limited time/resources to do those things) as it is a Fire Emblem game.

This has been patched a fair bit and is actually a lot better now. They've changed the reporting on the combat deck and it's better now, though it would be GREAT if they would get a grip and put a log in there. It's still early access though, so expect bizarre stuff like suddenly finding you have 5 burned cards after a long rest for No Fucking Reason. But it's miles better and I no longer feel hugely cheated out my money.
