an interesting study in contradictions. In addition to Watergate, he created the EPA, ended the draft, set the stage for ending the arms race with the ABM and SALT treaties, opened the way for China to rejoin the world, advanced desegregation and civil rights, and ended the Viet Nam war. He was a Republican, but his politics today would put him somewhere between the mainstream Democrats and the Sanders wing.

He was also pretty authoritarian minded, paranoid and sabotaged Vietnam peace talks in order to use ending the Vietnam war as a campaign issue. Nixon might have done some good stuff but some of those were to head off more radical (and probably better) changes and basically everything Nixon did was bearing in mind the axiom that it had to help Nixon attain or maintain power. He had no real respect for the institutions or mores of US government
Of course in terms of ignoring the ideals and traditions of government in order to push his personal political agenda he might just have been ahead of his time. The GOP innovation was to marry that kind of ruthless realpolitik with an idiotic and openly racist political agenda.

He also set the standard around which our shitty health insurance industry has been based - HMO's were from his administration IIRC.

In fairness I think he wanted a better set of healthcare reforms but Bobby Kennedy was pretty certain he would get something better passed and persuaded the Democrats not to pass Nixon's reforms. Then he got killed and that was the last time the US came close to healthcare reform until the ACA.

He was extremely authoritarian and paranoid, and the closest thing to a President who thought he was King and above the law until the present. He may have ended the Vietnam War, but only by walking out on the South Vietnamese, about whose government the only good thing I can think of is that they weren't as bad as the North Vietnamese. etc, etc.
So no, he was not a good man or even a good President. He was an interesting man who both brought our democracy to a crisis and managed to do some pretty good things in the course of his egomaniacal pursuit of his legacy.

The aerodynamics aren't that out there, but I'm amazed it only has 2 engines.

It's actually the latest in a series of 'large cargo hold' aircraft, it's not even the largest. The biggest is the Boeing Dreamlifter, which is a heavily modified 747 mostly used to haul 787 parts between Seattle and Wichita. Aerodynamically, they're just draggy versions of the base aircraft they are built from, the assemblies (wings and fuselage sections of normal aircraft, mostly) they carry are bulky but comparatively low weight. --Dave

For heavy lift though, you need the AN-225 (there's currently only one although the Chinese are buying the second one). I saw it a couple of times on the apron at Borispol and it's hard to describe just how massive it is. I've been around A380s and C5 Galaxies, this thing makes them look like toys.

If the water is choppy and there's nobody to operate the ballast tanks on those ships there may be issues. I.e. it's not safe to operate unloaded shipping vessels without the ballast tanks at least partially filled.
