Will it be the case that you have to have the expansion installed to be able to level to 80 or are they raising the level cap across the board for all players?

You have to register the expansion.  You can't level past 60 without having Burning Crusade registered, either.

Thanks.

Next question: is it right that all Grand Master profession trainers are in Dalaran and you've got to a) be 74 before you can enter b) do a quest to get in?

EDIT: Never mind. WowHead assures me there are grand master trainers in both Howling Fjord and Borean Tundra. I did think it sounded a bit too much of a cockblock.

Getting on to a server should be enough of a cockblock for at least a week, additional cockblockiness is not needed.

Yeah, for Alliance, Valiance Keep in BT and Valgard in HF are your first stops in Northrend, both have trainers.

How long before Blizzard sells original and TBC together for a reasonable price?

It's getting kind of steep to buy a new account.
