In my experience, 95% of hunter related wipes, are because of piss poor pet control. God help you if they have some kind of 'EZ-Huntering' Mod. The class is idiot proof solo, and the solo play does nothing to get people into a group mindset. Even the most brain dead rogue understands the big elite mob will squash them if they garner its attention. If you tell the hunter to just put the fucking pet on passive, they are no more annoying then any other random DPS'er. Of course, a hunters pet is a huge chunk of their DPS, but on the other hand, the groups DPS goes way up when everyone is alive  swamp poop

Nothing quite like watching a hunter pet bee-line through 3 mob packs to attack some random rat in the corner.  awesome, for real

Putting the pet on passive is for pussies.

One thing that annoys me is that the pets are retards about hitting your traps again, and I didn't know this until I had to trap something in ZA. The new way defensive works for pets as them assist you automatically, too. >< It's all stuff I can work around, it's just bad to discover in an instance.  ACK!

Get to know new hunters? I've never asked him, but I'd be willing to bet he'd say there's no such thing as a good, new hunter.

This was mostly when he played his warrior. Nowadays he plays a feral druid and combat rogue. He doesn't cheap shot on pulls, either, which is a big relief to my prot paladin, though the CS thing never really bothered me much as a pally (no rage to starve me from gaining, though that might not apply to 3.0).

Have a hunter alt and most of the problems is from macros.  Huntering is all about macro spamming, the macro always assists the tank and send pet to attack along with whatever shot you want to use.  Problem is when the last mob the tank is spamming his attacks on dies, the next attack button from the tank usually will target the nearest mob if one is around.  Then the hunter spamming his macro will assist the tank and sends the pet at the unintended target.  And its worse if the pet got dash, then you wont have time to stop.

Multishot is also spammed in raids, I dont do it in 5 man cause of the problem it can cause, even if you think there's a wall there, its sometimes not really there for the multishot...

The only macro I've used on my hunter was the steady shot macro pre-3.0.   Did everything else manually.  Seemed to work out better for me (and my group) that way.

Only macro I use since 3.0 is a pet attack that casts mark first. Half the time something is on cooldown and mark never casts anyway but it saves putting mark on my already overcrowded bars.

Just going back to the OP, I just did this myself. Granted 25 levels to a level 22 warrior I had, while stood in Orgrimmar. Got 3 people come up and ask me about it, 2 of which thought I was either cheating or a GM until I explained it to them :p

Gotta say it feels awesome to go from level 22 to 47 in 2 mins  awesome, for real

Yeah, you skipped right over the rough spots, mostly.  I would have waited till 30 or so, but a early 20s warrior is an entirely different animal than a mid-40s.  Grats!
