it's great but it's also an homage to Escher who did a version with a globe:

Thats like, right in the image.

IMO, it's a waste of talent. He's obviously got an amazing amount of it (maybe more than every painter I've ever met) and yet he's wasting it on boring as hell compositions while squandering his creativity (if he has any). Looking through those 3 DA pages, it doesn't point towards him being a creative genius though.

He may not have the knack for original compositions, or want for tempting the convoluted waters of what passes for art these days.  What he has is incredible technical skill.  Unfortunately, technical skill and the capacity for original, progressive, or intellectual art seldom appear in the same place at one time.  But I don't think that diminishes what he's doing.  It is what it is - an above average character study.  With skill like that, it won't take much maturing for him to do something with it.  Assuming, of course, that it isn't fake.

Frankly, if that's a painting, I want some of his stuff right now.  The Escher self-portrait it's referencing is one of my office pieces (meant to show that I'm interested in the skewing of perception), and that one is just meta enough on it to make the point even better.

Oh I've seen this plot before, only the indigenous population aren't as sympathetic as giant sexy smurfs.

Had to watch the video in that link twice to make sure the glass in the windows was broken pre-transformation.
Cool transforming truck and all I could think was "Well that isn't very effective if every time it transforms it breaks it's windows"  sad

Why is this hipster? Not that I get the joke, mind you.

I should get back to nature, too.  You know, like going to a shop for groceries instead of the computer.  Maybe a condo in the woods that doesn't even have a health club or restaurant attached.  Buy a car with only two cup holders or something. -Signe

No, it's just hip to be into star wars right now. Maybe hipster is the wrong term but geek chic perhaps?  Star wars is all over the place and right now the cool thing to do is putting star wars characters in unusual situations. We get it, it's not awesome nor cute after the 100th time you've done it.

Also, never stop Vader pic posting.  Photoshoping random starwars characters into stuff was funny when I first started using the internet in the 90's, and remains so now.  Lakov just needs to give up on tech stuff and go live in the woods.
