I not only don't get it, but feel slightly stupider for even reading half of it.  We need a thread for all the failed Funny and Awesome pictures.  We could call it the Fuckstupid Pictures thread.  Pictures of snakes would go there, too.

I would support this, but I think it needs a clear process for establishing a mandate of fuckstupidity.  Like a certain number of votes/posts.

What is this all of a sudden, a democracy?  Just put me in charge of deciding, it can't possibly go wrong.  Though a lot of genuinely funny stuff may get placed there due to my completely missing the point on something.  But still!

You know the scene in 28 Days Later when the protagonist wakes up in the middle of London and finds it dead empty.... the accompanying music is Godspeed You! Black Emperor.  The rest of the movie's music is very similar but it's all ripoffs from other artists.

Extremely experimental music by mostly Canadians.

Likely the wrong thread for the pic, but thanks for the info regardless.  I was getting no hits on it this morning.

Ok, guess I should've followed up on that one with the link posted by 0110. Yes, it's actually awesome just because GYBE is touring again, I thought more people would've recognized them. I also think it makes for a good flyer just because it's so long.

I listened to GYBE years ago but couldn't get my head around it at the time. Post-rock was always a tough genre to wade through to find the awesome in.

With the rate at which the water levels in the great lakes have been receding over the last 30 years, that island may be entirely surrounded by dry land soon. :(

Care to elaborate? I looked at all the shots, that place is beautiful, and to be honest I didn't think we had water that clear in the US anymore, heh. It feels like you are saying that place sucks.

Well, I live about an hour and a half away and will be going to check this out this summer. I'll let ya know if I agree. I would say, though, there probably isn't much else to see in that area.

Would probably be better off on the north part of the lower peninsula (or west for dunes) or the U.P. if you are looking for good nature/parks.

My dad is from Big Bay De Noc area, the Garden Peninsula, and it is amazing up there. Maybe I can find a pic or two....

This.  You've seen it all.

If you're going kayaking it may be enjoyable for a few days, but then I would think you have tons of options on good spots.  The lakes are cold.  I'm not sure if the water is always that clear there, it wasn't in Harbor Beach the two times I visited, which isn't that far from Port Austin.  (Though it could be due to geography.)  It's all small towns.  There's little else to do there.

If you have a friend there or live kind of close, it might not be a bad weekend.  If you're coming from out of state, there's no point.

Hahahaha!  I'm really good at this!

I've been to nearly every water-covered area that lies on the border of the US and Canada.  Having said that, the only people that tend to vacation in those places (the UP of Michigan, Lake Huron, etc.) either grew up there, near there, or are too financially strapped to go elsewhere.

I should get back to nature, too.  You know, like going to a shop for groceries instead of the computer.  Maybe a condo in the woods that doesn't even have a health club or restaurant attached.  Buy a car with only two cup holders or something. -Signe

If you're asking about the waterfall, apparently there are two weeks during the year where the sun sets in just the right way so that the water is lit but the rock is not.

It looks like a long exposure.  I don't think the natural color is quite so intense.
