But on the upside, when it was finally over, a completely healthy boy was born on January 18th at 11:11pm.

Congrats!

Congrats, Josh! What a great-looking kid.

I was induced and had no anesthetic (I know this isn't a competition, I just wanted to see what it was like). I know what your wife went through, and I'm sure it sucked even more that it wasn't her intention.  ACK!

Did a quick overnight trip down to DC for the White House Easter Egg Roll.   I would have pictures of my son, but mostly, they'd be nothing but him sleeping in the stroller.

This is from a pond in the Constitution Gardens (near the Washington Monument).

And this is her actually rolling an Easter Egg on the White House lawn.

I think there's a ticket lottery or something.

Ticket lottery.  A few years ago, they basically did it as first come first served, which was a complete mess and crashed the fuck out of the site.  This year, they did it as a random lottery, and we were lucky enough to get in.

Oh cool.

I think it would be awesome if they had bigwigs like the chairman of the joint chiefs and cabinet secretaries, etc etc. out on the lawn acting as volunteers with the kids.
 awesome, for real

It's not quite as interesting as rolling Easter eggs on the White House lawn, but my boys just turned 7 months.

Kids get big fast. Which is awesome, though I hope my daughter slows down a little so I can enjoy her being smaller! It also shows you how quickly time is going by ...

Finally got around to emptying out the camera. Here is my boy on Halloween. Believe it or not I had nothing to do with the choice of costume. It was all his idea:

Congrats! The nice thing is that they grow up slow enough that you can kinda-sorta keep up with them. The first year is super cool, but I'm just now into the 2nd so maybe it'll be even better!
