I really like the Scandinavian lions pic. Still laughing at the Finland one.
I'm still trying to figure out how all of Scandinavia ended up with god damn Lions on their medieval heraldry. Why Lions? Had any of them ever seen a Lion? They may as well have put unicorns on their shields. When visiting Trondheim for a project meeting, I checked out the guided tour at a local museum. They had some weird statues of no animal that I could recognize - hulking creatures with tiny snowfox-like ears, long noses, and tusks. Apparently it was |
