Nice photos Apoc. I prefer the first one but I think that's just because she's prettier! Do you help them with makeup? The blue eyeshadow seems to be nearly the same colour as the playground (and the stockings)! Also, taken with your 70-200?

Yeah, the second shot's lighting and colour are fantastic and playful but the model just looks like she finds the whole thing beneath her. I don't know if you/her were going for some interesting contrast or if she was just doing her best blue steel but it would have been an really, really great shot with a smiling/laughing model. Still really nice in every other respect and I'm impressed by getting all those different colours working without just being a horrible contrasting mess.

I think the model's face in the second shot is perfect. She has the goth thing going on and is seated on a playground toy. She should not be happy or joyful, the sense of gloom or "greater than this" look is appropriate for her character.
It gives a contrast via mood to the great use of color.

I actually didn't like her eyeshadow (on her, perhaps), but can definitely see why the color was chosen.
Also, the way the shadows fall on her face may be what's making her look angry...

Yeah, was going to say the way the shadows fall on her face make her look angry to me, but also, her face just doesn't look relaxed and "natural" in the sense that she seems as if she's deliberately making that face and not as if it's just how she looked at that moment. I dunno.
I don't care for the blue eye makeup, but then again, I tend to not wear eye makeup in general if I can help it. It fits the pic for overall color reasons, I just don't think it's adding anything to her eyes as it is.

For the first one (Aneta) we had a MUA who was great, really nice girl who I've worked with a few times. She's very good at natural-looking makeup, but she takes *ages*, like, an hour to do face makeup 2nd one did her own makeup and already had it done when I picked her up before the shoot. Just lucked out with the colours really although personally I think the eye makeup is a bit OTT, yeah. She totally only had one expression though, every time I pointed the camera near her that look came on! Hoping to do another shoot with her soon and am gonna work on trying to get her to vary the look because she had a beautiful smile! Really lit her face up. Will try and get a proper MUA next time too. Was a hilarious shoot actually, for the first 30 mins we had an audience of about 6 local teenage lads, riding around on bikes that were too small for them, smoking joints and acting hard, who were a bit non-plussed by the whole thing. Once they worked out that she was only going to change outfits once (she was fearless, just stripped down to her undies and changed clothes without a second's hesitation!) they got bored and pissed off. Oh yeah, and both shot with the 70-200. Thanks for the comments about the lighting Musashi. I'm really starting to feel that I can get almost exactly what I have in my head now. Hoping to shoot someone on a horse in the next week or two and have a very clear idea of how I want to light it, will be interesting to see if I can achieve it :) Edit: 1st pic was taken with 24-70, not 70-200. Was using ring flash for fill and usually end up too far away from the subject for ring flash fill with the 70-200.

Nice stuff Apoc, the lighting is stunning in both. Definitely try to get something different out of the second girl if you try again, that expression just is not doing her justice.
Love that the first girl's eyecolor matches the mossy background.

Took a couple pictures of the expectant wife. We weren't going to take any, but it's been such a process for us that we decided that we should have some to celebrate the upcoming kids. This is her, at 35 weeks, carrying twins.

That begs for one of those flashing-faces gifs whre the background is the only thing that changes. Wtf is it with girls these days and the cement face, is botox that widespread?

Yeah... good luck with that. Good lords, I agree with Merusk - that is one serious cement face. If she's thinking that's a sultry/sexy look, it's not. She just looks really pissed off to me.

Hey all, I'm just joining the forum at the recommendation of a friend - and he even had this particular thread in mind. I'll start contributing as I take photos, but I could always post some from the last few months unless that would be against the spirit of the thread.
Looking forward to enjoying everyone's shots.

I'm not sure you will fit in very well here kubodhi - that post really doesn't present us with any decent reasons to mock you mercilessly. That's kind of traditional around here.
Seriously though, hi. Enjoy your stay. The general recommendation is to look around, get a feel for the boards. Particpate in more than one thread preferably. Be wary about entering the Politics forum. Oh, and if you really do want to get shit upon, go find a post by someone with a Red name, and tell them how much you love them.
Post a shot or two that you want to show off if you like, just don't dump a whole shit load on us or anything.

Welcome to the forums kubodhi :) Nice photos, really like the dog one! Those water drop shots are fun to do aren't they, if a pain in the arse at the same time. I keep meaning to have another go at them and try to get something different, just not sure what yet.

Fucking Christ, I'm never going to even come close to you guys. I just don't have the eye for artistic type shots. Ah well, I'll keep plugging along with my cheep SLR and enjoy the ride.
