If you believe Blizzard, a big chunk of RMT gold moving around now is actually gold stolen from hacked accounts; only some from the stereotypical chinese nerd farming CASH_MOB_004 from a basement sweatshop in Shenzhen. So yeah, theres good money burglarizing and/or fencing stolen goods compared to being unemployed.
