I actually didn't like Loki, at all. It's like let's give a fully ranged character one melee skill of pretty high importance for summoning...it doesn't play well imo. Meanwhile, his frost tree was just undertuned but it could be fun.

New shit today though - Howard the Duck teamup awesome, for real; Iron Fist releases today, Rogue's unique re-work. For end game Rogue will still be using 3 boss uniques because a lot of the changes aren't very well done. swamp poop Though, for just leveling and playing Rogue they aren't horrible uniques, so lower end play will enjoy an increase.

Pet! Awesome. Code redeemed. I know nothing about pets, will research smiley

Team-ups, I've been using the SHIELD agent in away mode, is that a bad choice?

Purely from a power and ease of play standpoint, never use a teamup in away mode, and never spend points on away mode skills.

At least not until you are at a level to start fucked-up theory crafting for 2% advantage under a full moon with a specific character and opponent in mind.

It doesn't matter much which team up you use for the purpose of levelling, go with whoever you have and looks cool.

Pre-team up rework Away mode was the preferred choice because most of them were super-squishy and Away mode gave nice find bonuses. Post-rework they've gone the other way and gimped Away mode in favor of having them out all the time.

Uhhh.... wat swamp poop

He is pretty damn awesome, but he doesn't play like most heroes. You want low spirit/hp, and once you have low spirit you use your basic and only use damage layers as they're falling off or to keep spirit from regenerating.

Against a bleeding enemy his basic punch does more damage than his spirit spending punch which causes a bleed, and being low on spirit gives him stat bonuses.  You only need enough spirit to keep his bleed up and other dot layers up.

Iron Fist's gyrations on the login screen are a bit off putting. They've taken great care to model his package.

I may never forget them!

All the dancing Iron Fists in hubs are giving me SWG cantina flasbacks.

Leveled Loki & Venom. Loki is a goddamn wrecking machine compared to all of the other characters I've played so far. Venom was entertaining but feels lacking in damage output. I'm probably playing him wrong though.

Started Hulk and he's hilarious. 'Hulk doesn't care about your stuff!'  awesome, for real

Most of the heroes are awesome and fun;  they really, really worked on this game.

Hulk used to be utter pish but I levelled his new version to 60 and it was tons of fun.  His mechanic is boring and useless tho;  the rage may as well not be there, to be honest.  Wife has got Venom to 60 and loves him, but I don't even have him yet.

Finished up Iron Fist today. I like him in concept, but in play not so much. The stance dancing thing that seems to be the intended option needs some crazy hands and multiple bars. The five stance thing works well and is enjoyable for ST, but that's all the buttons on one bar and no AoE.

Danger Rooms with CDs on movement powers can die in fire. I'm never doing one of those again. I got squished by falling stuff too many times.

Anyone have a tip on the no heal one?

From what they said during the iron fist hype up you are not really meant to stance dance between all five, you supposedly pick a couple stances and the powers they buff up and stick to that.  I don't know how it works in practice since i haven't played him yet.

Pet class, i did a challenge rating 84 cosmic DR with no healing and 1 life only (although you get an extra 75k hps for your one life) with Doom and came out with around 30k hps, and most of the damage i took was simply from being impatient and rushing ahead.

Yeah, once you learn MK he's a really well rounded character imo. Very good damage and survivability, unique usage of spirit, but low aoe.

^Exactly this. Either run Doom or Iceman and the no healing becomes a test of patience more than anything.

As for Iron Fist, while he's designed to use 1-2 stances, there is a build using all 5 that is supposedly fun and effective enough for most content. I only had time to get him to 60 before I left for the weekend, but he seems okay at 60. Good damage and potential for solid tanking/life sustain, with some really weak AE.

Haven't found any of the newer heroes good enough to keep playing after I hit 60 with them, but I remember the rush and the disappointment well.

Got Fist to 60 yesterday. I might pick up Rogue again, but she sucks unless you invest in hunting powers and her synergies aren't all that useful.  Still, better than the rest I haven't capped yet. They're all so inferior in power to DOOOOOOOOOM and Scarlet Witch and nobody's quite as much fun as leapy-stompy She-Hulk. (Strange is up there but goddamn he hurts my fingers with all the button juggling.)

I have a hard time playing anything other than scarlet witch or doom. However, I am thinking about re-gearing Iceman because he was a lot of fun, I think I tend to enjoy summoners.

I tried Scarlet Witch and didn't like how she felt, up to level 15 or so. Does she get better, or was I just using the wrong buttons?

She gets LOADS better and chances are you're also using the wrong buttons.

As Pennilenko said, it's hard to play other characters if you do her right. With just enough Omegas to have all ranks in Legion and in SPIN tech she's a nightmare.  I use her red sphere of death and clean up Midtown Patrols in less than a half hour (Provided everything spawns as it should). It's ridiculous.

This is very close to the build AND artifacts I use. (except I disagree with his Omegas since he doesn't take Legion but maybe being nerfed has made his points make more sense)
http://marvelheroes.info/build/14524/

Yeah you can get better artifacts, but I'll wait until they drop rather than grind for them or trade for them. If I'm only doing patrol clears I have a build that takes the points out of Chaos Rift and puts them in Chaos Warp to max it. The movement & healing is > than the DPS for static nodes in that situation.

I use that spec on my Uberwitch, I'm even considering Cosmic Prestiging her, I stopped at red for thematic reasons. About the only thing I'd switch is Bouncing Hex for Chaotic Hex while leveling. While not is OP as it used to be when their wasn't a damage drop off in bounces, it's still really strong. For gearing, she has so much HP regen I have no clue why you would use Lemuria though. For utility, the run fast relics are the win.

Jean is really strong as well. I prefer mental for the pie wedge Kinetic Wave instead of the PBAoE for Energy even though Energy is generally stronger.

My goto get things done characters are Doom<-SW<-Jean<-Kitty

I think he's got the Lemuria relics because the theme for the build was "cheap."  Everyone has a stack of those things lying around unused while coming across useful ones like Atlantis isn't common enough to drop them on a "cheap" build.

You've got almost the same order as me for go-tos, except I can't find Jean fun. She keeps stalling out after 4-5 levels for me so she's languishing in  her 40s right now. I find her as fun as Mr. Fantastic with no idea why.

Oh, I forgot Blade. He's a terminal running beast. His flaily thing - Whip Lash - is crazy good for clearing trash. I do remember I wasn't all that excited by his leveling process though.

Jean does get kind of ho hum in the middle before you get her specialization which cuts her two main hammer CDs in half. They really need to make a practice of putting the specializations at the start of the trees because so many of them fundamentally define how you play. Doom suffers from this but Blade does have this one right.

Just tried the cosmic trial on my Awesome SW and my Awesome Cap.  Neither proved in any way awesome.

That's some bullshit right there.  It seems to me to be a straightforward DPS check ?  I wasn't in any danger of dying on either, but just couldn't get her and her guards down quick enough.

Survivability and dps, yes.  I always fucked up the survival part on multiple characters but haven't tried since the changes. All I e got at cosmic ready is Doom.

That said, Cosmic is no big deal with radically better loot or anything. Turns out it's just more time to do stuff and cramps my "just kill shit ASAP" playstyle because of all the extra mitigation the bosses and trash have, so let the elitists elite.  I'm happy doing regular midtown bosses and comic terminals in less time and with less bullshit running around.
