Would love to hear what games released in the last 1.5 years that I should pick up once we know the deals.

None.

This is actually the correct answer.

But to be more specific, Resident Evll or whatever at 50%+ off? I would buy that.

Nier: Automata and Witcher III if you don't already have it (2015 game).

I'm looking at:

Rimworld (not expecting discount)
Quadrilateral Cowboy
Oxygen Not Included

Most of my gaming is on PS4 now.

I'm hoping for some discounts on HOI4 dlc (and some other Paradox stuff too) but otherwise I'm occupied with games I have until the eventual Autumn sale .

AAAAAND...Steam is down. Didn't take long.

Post by: WayAbvPar on June 22, 2017, 10:14:18 AM
Ha yep. Was midway through my queue and it went tits up.

I am hoping for some deep discounts on EUIV DLC, because $200+ for the bundle is a bit daunting. Also Naval Action and Cold Waters for very cheap. And a pony.

Title: Re: Steam Summer Sale 2017
Post by: schild on June 22, 2017, 10:26:01 AM
RE7 is only 40% off. Fuckers.

Edit: And Armello isn't even on sale.

Edit 2: Armello is now on sale, things are updating slowly.

Post by: WayAbvPar on June 22, 2017, 10:30:28 AM
I saw that Besiege was on sale too right before the crash. Think I will pick both of those up (and probably never play them, as usual).

Not exactly an exciting sale judging from my wishlist. I could buy Cryptark maybe now that it's out of Early Access.

Sigh, only -10% on one of the HOI4 DLCs. I guess It's going to be a cheap summer sale for me.  :oh_i_see:

Title: Re: Steam Summer Sale 2017

Gonna grab Overcooked for the fam. Can't decide between XCOM or Witcher 3.

Title: Re: Steam Summer Sale 2017
Post by: jakonovski on June 22, 2017, 10:54:19 AM
I think we need to wait a bit for the sales to take hold, I just saw some of my wishlist go back to normal price, while some that are on sale don't show as such until you click through to the game's store page. Clearly it's not updating correctly.

Title: Re: Steam Summer Sale 2017
Post by: luckton on June 22, 2017, 10:58:01 AM
Yeah, I'm seeing that too. Overcooked was on sale for 50%, now it's gone.

Title: Re: Steam Summer Sale 2017
Post by: MrHat on June 22, 2017, 12:44:03 PM
Over the last few years, I've definitely gone from "oh shit, it's a sale, let's see what there is!" to just checking my wishlist and if it's 75% off I buy it.

Title: Re: Steam Summer Sale 2017
Post by: Gimfain on June 22, 2017, 01:16:08 PM
Its rare to find €60 games dropping down to €5 like they did three years ago, also takes much longer for them to drop below €20. Ever since they made full price games cost €60 I mostly end up buying that stuff at gmg.

I will probably end up grabbing salt & sanctuary and Hollow knight for €10 each, I don't have a backlog and heard good stuff on both games.

Title: Re: Steam Summer Sale 2017
Post by: Sky on June 22, 2017, 01:29:31 PM
Welp, Rocksmith DLC only ever gets about 40% off, so there's a few of those off the wishlist. I actually had some restraint and left a few on the wishlist, I was pretty tempted by Muse but I have a couple Muse packs already.

Title: Re: Steam Summer Sale 2017
Post by: Raguel on June 22, 2017, 01:56:45 PM
So I'm still playing Crusader Kings 2 but apparently there's a ton of dlcs I haven't gotten. Think there will be a 75-90% sale later on or is 50% off as good as it'll get?

Title: Re: Steam Summer Sale 2017
Post by: Kageru on June 22, 2017, 04:02:21 PM
53 Items on your wish-list are on sale... steam sale detection complete. Though they're mostly on the wish list so I remember they exist if I ever get through my backlog rather than imminent intent to buy.

I bought the blackguards franchise set for 8$ on a random sale recently, it's rules heavy and slow moving in a way I get the feeling German gamers don't mind,  but that's chewed up 40 hours of my time so far, and I'm still only on the first base game...  cost is just less of an issue than the amount of time and attention required to complete games.

Title: Re: Steam Summer Sale 2017
Post by: Rendakor on June 22, 2017, 05:24:38 PM
Glanced at my wishlist, nothing I really need on sale enough. Buying a house has kind of fucked my gaming budget, but I have a giant backlog and still mostly play Minecraft or POE anyway so fuck it.

Title: Re: Steam Summer Sale 2017
Post by: Hawkbit on June 22, 2017, 09:22:11 PM
Ha. Of the three games I mentioned, only one is on sale, for only 15% off.

I declare Steam a dead thing.

I miss the excitement of flash sales and daily deals. Now I just check it once when it starts, once more when it ends and that's about it.

This.  I also miss all the little event type stuff, like the clicker game and the daily challenges that earned your team points.   It was all stupid little stuff but it made it more of a daily thing to login and check out what was going on.

Everyone should grab Bayonetta for $15.  I don't need another excuse to play it again, but I fully plan on it.

I was hoping a few games would be cheaper, like For Honor.  Also, No Man's Sky isn't $5 yet.

Nothing like getting an email that says 6 of the items on your wish list are on sale..:D

I'm surprised that I do not find the stickers alluring.

Title: Re: Steam Summer Sale 2017
Post by: Rasix on June 23, 2017, 08:54:34 AM
There's a lot I'd love to buy, but I'm cheap in my old age. Nearly my entire wishlist is on sale, minus some stuff that I really wanted cheaper (looking at you, Rimworld). Tyranny and Dishonored 2 are rather tempting.  I heard Dishonored 2 had massive PC issues, right? That's kind of holding me back.

I miss getting a AAA game for under $10. This new style Steam sale seems to have raised the floor on how low they're willing to go with some titles.

Title: Re: Steam Summer Sale 2017
Post by: Sky on June 23, 2017, 08:55:57 AM
I'm mildly interested in Hitman (the newer one) and Ghost Recon (newest one) summat openworldy stuff. I think I may drop Dying Light off the list.

Keep wanting to add the revamped State of Decay, but the jank is pretty strong. Though still probably my 3rd favorite zombie game after 7 Days to Die and Project Zomboid.

But all four games are not at the impulse buy level previous sales used to steal my wallet.

Edit: I hear you on Rimworld and blame apoc

Title: Re: Steam Summer Sale 2017
Post by: HaemishM on June 23, 2017, 08:58:42 AM
The removal of flash sales really killed the excitement of the Steam sale for me too. And I think the floor on prices is definitely higher than it used to be.

Title: Re: Steam Summer Sale 2017
Post by: Reg on June 23, 2017, 09:37:44 AM
My problem is that there aren't many games on Steam that I'd be willing to buy unless they were on sale for ten dollars or less. I'm not really into the cheap indie stuff and there just haven't been that many high profile games made lately that I care about enough to buy. A few games on my wish list have come up but with savings of maybe 40 percent. Not good enough.

Title: Re: Steam Summer Sale 2017
Post by: Merusk on June 23, 2017, 10:10:18 AM
Witcher 3 is 40% off and the Hitman bundle is $24 and I still don't feel like getting either of them.

I might just be done with video games.

Everyone should absolutely get Witcher 3.

Title: Re: Steam Summer Sale 2017
Post by: Rasix on June 23, 2017, 11:34:30 AM
The new Hitman is really good. However, I wasn't inspired enough by what I played to go beyond the story lines. It's all still too much trial and error for me.  So for me, it's up in the air if it's worth it at that price. I got 10 hours out of it, but there's still a lot more there and that's not including replaying a level to approach it differently.

Witcher 3 is really worth it at almost any price. It's just an outstanding game. Definitely up there with Persona 5 and MGSV (after I got farther in) in the games that I've enjoy really enjoyed in the last couple of years.

Oxenfree is 75% off and I hear it's a pretty fun 5-6 hours.

Other than that, nothing really at a price point I want.

I would've taken Endless Space 2 or Battlegrounds for 10% off.

It's been a while since I've played a game designed around reloading and trying different ways, or having failure be kinda fun because you can reload and try a different tactic.

Didn't they design it intentionally to have a bunch of "disposable" time limited stuff specifically to discourage people from waiting and buying it on sale?  And had some flap about always online DRM or something?

I'd check myself, but I'm dreading loading up that store page more and more every day.  Every time I see that "recommended for you" section, I get the impression that Steam is judging me.  "Hey, based on the things you've been playing, we think you might enjoy: Mountains of total garbage!  Don't see anything you want today?  Well, that's okay, we'll shove the same six games at you over and over until you buy them just to get them off the fucking screen!  Or are you suddenly too discerning for such gems as 'Too Angry to Space' and 'Dead Pixels'?"

Hmm, Wasteland, Stardew Valley, X-Com 2, 8-Bit Armies, Subnautica, Shadowrun, all on sale! I have the Witcher 3 complete (or whatever it is called) for PS4, I wish they had all 3 Witcher games (the complete packages too) bundled up. WTF! I did find the bundle, when I first searched it didn't have it, then next time it has it. Going to get some games and then work some overtime :)

So much of life is perspective. I saw that as rewarding people who supported the game while it was releasing the episodic content and an interesting event-style feature. Plenty of games do limited-time events.

If I buy everything on my wishlist that is more than 50% off (plus Bayonetta), it's nearly $400. I am going to have to do some triage on this.

In the cart, didn't see it was less than 50% discount (just checked, 55% off). Mentioned Bayonetta specifically only because it was breaking my 50% rule.

Is this your subtle way of getting another Firewatch nag in? We get it, Firewatch is robot Jesus giving us a blowjob.

No it's me saying in the last three years you didn't miss nearly anything, so I have no clue how your wish list is 400 bucks big during the summer scale.

Title: Re: Steam Summer Sale 2017
Post by: Merusk on June 26, 2017, 08:17:35 AM
I actually pulled the trigger on Witcher 3 because you guys keep hyping it.  Dropped Stardew in there as well because at that price why not.  Fall of Cybertron is on a massive 80% off so I nabbed that, too.  I have zero complaints about any of them so far.

In fact, if you don't have FoT it's worth the $10 for the Grimlock portions of the game alone. So much carnage.

So, I purchased a bunch of games in the last 20 minutes of the sale:

- Life is Strange
- Lords of the Fallen

- Headlander
- Hollow Knight
- Shovel Knight complete edition
- Wonderboy: The Dragon's Trap (yep, I'm in a platformer mood :P)

on GOG (during the mid-june sale):

- Darkest Dungeon DLC
- Homeworld Remastered collection (never played Homeworld, always read great things about it)
- Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy)
- Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines
- Gold Box: Krynn series
- Gold Box: Ravenloft series (considering a Radicalthon about it)

Stuck to my usual Rocksmith DLC refresh. Nothing else, but I'm having fun in 7D2D and will probably play a good long game of it once it's out of experimental (right now just messing around between unstable releases and it's awesome, so...). Saved me $$$. Which I should probably spend on a new PSU...

Title: Re: Steam Summer Sale 2017
Post by: Kail on July 05, 2017, 07:18:54 PM
I blame the booze.

Aarklash: Legacy (really liked Cyanide's other fantasy stuff, Orcs and Men and Styx, so figured I'd give this a shot)
The Last Door Collector's Edition Bundle (because Lovecraft)
GOD EATER 2 Rage Burst (I hear it's like Monster Hunter, which I've never played, so might as well dip a toe in here)
Rogue State (uhh, not sure why)
Hunted: The Demon's Forge (years ago, I had a screenshot from the Steam store of a page that said "Based on your recent purchase of 'Toejam and Earl 2: Panic on Funkotron' we think you might also enjoy: 'The Prima Strategy Guide for Hunted: The Demon's Forge'" because logic... and now I can finally sit down and play the game that inspired it)
GUILTY GEAR XX ACCENT CORE PLUS R (I look forward to the day when someone develops and app that automatically abbreviates fighting game titles to something like 'Guilty Gear etc. etc.')
Sky Break (hopefully better than FarSky, but reviews are mixed... I think this one must have been on sale)
Cally's Caves Definitive Collection (hello, 2d retro indie platformer, shocking to see you here)
Party Hard Collector's Edition (I think someone said this one was fun?)
Diaries of a Spaceport Janitor (I've heard a bit about this game, and it sounds really interesting atmospherically, even though I suspect it's not exactly going to be 'fun')
Carrie's Order Up (the hell did this even get on my wish list)
Cursed Castilla - Maldita Castilla EX (hello again, 2d retro indie platformer)
Wolfsong (RPGmaker?  Really?  Siiiiiiigh.)
Fallout 4 (Hey, finally, a game I might actually play!)
NecroVisioN + NecroVisioN: Lost Company (No idea why this one is here, either)
World Of Diving (Sure, why not, Subnautica is cool, diving in general is cool, maybe this won't suck)
Pandora: First Contact (another space 4X I can install next to Nu Alpha Centauri and never touch or look at)
Wyv and Keep: The Temple of the Lost Idol (hello yet AGAIN 2d retro indie platformer)
Disney Epic Mickey 2 (I'd prefer the first one, but I don't think it's on Steam and I don't care enough to look)
Fahrenheit: Indigo Prophecy Remastered (I have the original Indigo Prophecy, which I haven't beaten, why did I get this)
Shipwreck Deluxe Edition (hmm, looks a lot like Zelda but I'm expecting something more on the level of Anodyne)
Ray Gigant (a combination VN and dungeon crawler... I don't like either of those things, so naturally I bought this)
200% Mixed Juice (I have a bunch of Orange Juice stuff, it's never mind blowing or anything but it's fun enough)
Pathologic Classic HD (looks weird enough to be intriguing, no idea if it's any good)
Mighty Gunvolt (hello yet again AGAIN 2d retro platformer)
FINAL FANTASY IX (because 12 still isn't on Steam for some reason)
Batman: Arkham Knight Premium Edition (It was cheap, at least)
Hollow Knight & Soundtrack (should have got the Gog version)
Mortal Kombat XL (I don't know why I buy these, I never play them online and nobody I know IRL will play them with me anymore, just burning money at this point)
Mighty No. 9 (I'm crying like an anime fan on prom night)
Learn Japanese To Survive! Hiragana Battle (Sure, edutainment, learn while playing video games.  I hope it works while uninstalled, sitting in my Steam library, because otherwise OOPS)
Planar Conquest ("if we keep remaking Master of Magic, eventually one of them HAS to not suck")
Quadrilateral Cowboy Deluxe Edition (I like Blendo Games stuff, but it's too weird for me to know if it's worth full price)

Total damage:
$249.10

Plus about $50 from the Gog sale earlier which was mostly just random crap like Oddworld and Tex Murphy and Rune.

Couldn't really make an impulse purchase.
I think this is the first time I finished Summer sale with below $1 purchase.
I spent more on KFC the other day.

There's nothing wrong with that, I try to tell myself.
It tasted good.

Hollow Knight
Unexplored
Dishonoured 2 (was on the fence about this one given the price but I'll probably get to it before the fall sale so whatever)
Dungeonmans
Hexcells
PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate

Which puts me around $50.

I also bought PUBG during the sale despite it not being on sale.   Peer pressure!

I bought something.  I then returned it two days later.  I wish they would go back to the old format.  Or better yet, someone needs to invent a time machine so I can go back to when I didn't already have everything I wanted.  I am mainly only looking at VR stuff these days anyway, but they tend to do the usual 20% for the stuff on my wishlist.  Screw that.

Yeah, there goes my food budget for the month.  I think RK47 has the right idea...  on the plus side, at least I'll have something to play while my ramen is microwaving.

I bought Oxenfree ($5), Domina ($5), Kenshi ($18), PUBattlegrounds ($30).

I returned Oxenfree (it's $5 on Android too) and Kenshi (felt like the year 2000).

Battlegrounds wasn't on sale, but god damn am I glad I bought it.

Domina is a fun few hours too, you basically run a gladiator ludus.  It could've been a mobile game though.

Domina looks fun (I had never heard of it) but I agree it belongs on Android. Wishlisted, maybe when it goes on sale again I'll pick it up.

I impulse bought it the first day because the video looked cool.  It's pretty bad.  It's more of a sim game with some shitty combat occasionally.

7 Days to Die is $10 at GMG. I'm closing in on 300 hours, so....

Early access but small but active dev team releasing 6-9mo major build updates.

Forgot to log in to snag Just Cause 3, don't want to pay a lot, heard it wasn't as good as 2.

Speaking of which, I did buy the last Avalanche Sweden title, Mad Max, on the flash sale. I thought about it when it was on Steam sale, but was too deep in 7D2D. Still am, and have Witcher 3 to finish now that my computer seems more stable with the new PSU.

But just about to putting in electricity in 7D2D, shotgun turrets, electric fences and whirling blades of doom? Yes, please!
