Title: Salem
Post by: Xanthippe on May 17, 2011, 08:32:19 AM
This sounds intriguing.  It's not out yet, supposed to come out later this year, by Seatribe (Haven & Hearth, which I've not tried).

Features mutable world, deformable terrain, crafting (including buildings, towns and so on), pvp, permadeath

We all know the potential pitfalls, but nevertheless this is one to keep an eye on.  The publisher is Paradox Interactive.

Thank you.  I thought I'd seen mention of this game before here but I couldn't find it.

I tried playing Haven & Hearth.  I screwed up at the beginning (I don't like to read instructions) and then spent some time trying to kill my character so I could start over.  Ants debilitated me but didn't quite kill me, although they did eat my shoes.  My stats are worse than they were now, I've built what I know how to, and am wandering around hoping an animal eats me.

This sounds awesome.

I even created a tombstone for myself and logged out, thinking I'd die to animals in the night.  No such luck.

Still searching for a way to kill myself.  Who knew it'd be so tough in a permadeath world.
