3 weeks after I passed my driving test I drove from Nottingham to Newcastle on my own and about 30 miles outside Newcastle some guy on the other side of the motorway lost control of his car, spun round 4 times going through the central reservation and missed me and the 4 cars infront of me (all of whom were doing 80 mph) by about 2m. I didn't *actually* shit myself but it's possibly the closest I've ever come to it. I was the only person who stopped too. Everyone else just fucked off. I chatted with the guy, who was clearly in shock, for 20 mins while we waited for the emergency services to arrive and we watched his car burn slowly. He'd been on his mobile phone while doing 70 and lost control....  Hollywood lied to me too, his burning car didn't explode. |

That accident was from 2 days ago here in Dayton OH. They estimated the kid was doing around 90-130 mph (depending on who you talk to) when he passed the cop who is recording the video. As far as I've heard he's still in critical condition. It closed 675 down for quite some time right during morning rush hour.
Yeah they talked quite a bit about it on Cinci radio that day. Particularly since it happened so soon after a local 16-year old kid did something similar in his parent's BMW the week before. The cop he passed said he was doing 120-130 when he hit the truck. |
