Out of the frying pan, into the fire.

on: May 30, 2007, 09:08:13 AM

Another one of those websites floating around the newssites I frequent.

Looks like the dude who did Company of Heros is desgning something else.  You enter in the password and it takes you to another page with a LAT/LON, light map, and a page views counter.

Looks like when the page views hit 122112 (Dec. 21st 2012?) then they'll reveal something.

Also, the Long/Lat point to a place in Falls Church, VA. (http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?searchtype=address&formtype=address&latlongtype=decimal&latitude=38.871799&longitude=-77.172096)

Any ideas? I'm bored at work.

Click on the blinking light in the circle to the right of the map. Click on the number set counting from 0-9 in the upper right. A login/pw box pair will appear. A radar will appear. It will scan frequencies. in the upper left, words will dimly flash every few cycles.

I am at work and don't have the means to capture that shit - damn safe computing environments. Really no need to capture it.

Ok, skipping forward. Click on the transmission bit in the bottom right. Pulls up a view of the mountains.

Me? Bored? No...

Edit: Got Paint working, obviously.

The Recycling text in the upper left of the login page with the radar is as follows - each line is a new flash of letters.

WHY AM I THE ONLY ONE DOING THIS?

And hey, Hat, fuck you for abandoning the thread. Someone is paying me good money to do this right now, and I want company from other people on other people's dimes.

Sorry, was at a graduation ceremony, and I was already late waiting for the counter to tick.  I have to write an office action, then if I have time left I'll pursue it further.  Glad to see you got the same things I did.  Did you manage to figure out the login/execute thing?

No, I think you got it wrong.

It's LEONID POSITION.

And the code in the corner reads:

.AAIJ.
.DD.
.AADA.
.AAGB.
.AAIC.
.ACAI.

Cryptic post on Google Earth from a user named "Exoriare" that registered on May 25, 2007 lives here
"The Primer for the leniod coordinates longitude is the Sphinx.

The sphinx location would be 20, 0 in leniod coordinates."

Lat/Long coordinates from the world map vary depending on your location seemingly (mine was in the middle of Nowhere, China)

We need to map every point, connect the dots and make a star form or some stupid shit. To summon the devil. No other reason to use the date 122112.

This game is going to be post-apocalyptic.

And probably a heavily multiplayer or MMOG title.

Horror mmo stuff was different. This seems more like an invasion thing. Or something. Not horror though.

I know, but the whole map overlay pentagram thing was the same.  Anyways, the lat/long of the sphinx are

Great Sphinx of Giza
Location: Egypt, Giza
Longitude: 31°8'15"
Latitude: 29°58'31"

(20,0)  So I think maybe if we shift the other one to fit the new set, we get a new result?  WTF does primer mean anyways?  I have so much work to do lol.

Hrm, primer = 0 line? so the sphinx longitute of 31,8,15 is actually the 0 line in lenoid coordinates? Yes.

So, if we shift our longitude to lenoid coordinates we get what?  108.987096 W  and 48.45899 ?  Which happens to be bumblefuck Montana.

Of course, it could just be some stupid shit where we have to wait till that counter finishes counting down (~20 hours).

If you look closely at the code in the B/W image you posted w/ the crosshair, the code on the right, the dashs actually look different from each other a bit, maybe simple morse? dot = 0 dash = 1?

speaking of morse I tried to figure out the blinking lights on the main page and transcription page (the one with the big countdown) but I went crosseyed and woke up several hours later with no hair

If you look on the scanning page, on the left side you can barely make out 2 vertical lines of text.

The second line spells out THEYWEREMADE.

Also, that blinky light is morse code, but ya, it made my head hurt.  Anyone get a boyscout badge in morse?  Haha, doing the morse by myself I get NOSTAEISEXOSSIESUS.

The biggest rumor that I have read about this site is that it's connected to the chtuhulululh MMO that Funcom is doing.  Mostly because of the date thing. They're discussing it here.  Maybe it's the same, maybe it isn't.  Who knows.

It's damn interesting though.

That's kind of what I thought at first. Sounds like dark world future shit. But I'm not so sure. Cthlhuian shit isn't about ALIEN INVASION style sightings.

I heard an intereseting theory that basically ended up with people wondering if this Johnson guy (ex Relic employee) is planning any sequels to games that were released in 1998 (some comet theory).

Edit: The smelliest rumor smells like XCOM.

ok so i stumbled upon your thread here and heres all the information I could gather:

Exoriare alquis nostris ex ossibus ultor = "Let someone arise from my bones as an avenger"

the date on the front page is dec 12, 2012, Mayan: Ascension - Great Awakening (date predicted by the great mayan stone calendar) the date is also listed in Tibetin, Egyptian, and Chinese calendars as significant to change, even end, of the world.

the coordinates on the page are linked to whichever proxy sever your internet runs off of, like my Lat/Lon shows up as BC, Canada. (I livedown the street from Relic).

if you click transmission 3 now on the page, it brings up insane code, its javascript ascii translated to hex (long ass-ness) anyways it brings a like to google maps where there is an X, clicking the X launches a video posted on youtube by "Exoriare"

here is the link:

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&t=k&om=1&msid=106102913452810244422.00000112e4c22bc2da8d7&ll=37.214472,-117.148933&spn=0.098156,0.160675&z=13

so the studio being opened by ex-relic staff is called Smoking Gun, and its in british columbia, Canada (same as Relic).

It is rumored they are hiring for an MMO, so if I had to guess (from what I can find on the site) its a teaser for a new post-apocalyptic MMO possibly related to aliens (watch the video) reguardless, 2 things i do knwo for sure... this has consumed my entire week so I will be buying the game, no matter what, something that sucks me in this bad, i'll buy, even if others say it sucks and 2) I'm a junior game designer, I'm SOOO submitting my application for this company now, to put this much effort in just publicity, genius, pure genius.

This was actually at the low end of the totem pole in terms of cool publicity - imo.

Especially since so much has been done lately. It's going to take years before anything is called genius again due to the bar set by I Love Bees.
