This Australian band Cloud Control are the support act for Vampire Weekend's tour. I reckon they're going places. Worth a listen: Death CloudGold Canary

Damn you are the first person I have ever seen mention them/know of them.
Die Apokalyptischen Reiter is pretty badass. Wrestling with our utter hate of festivals. Some good stuff this year in Ottawa and Rochester. I really want to see Old Crow Medicine Show open for Derek and Susan.

Old Crow Medicine Show has been rolling around my Pandora rotation lately because of a Felice Brothers add I put in there. I'm liking them a lot so far.

Never been really big on psychedelic rock. I think my parents did a good job of burning that out of me when I was a young age (like at six), which is odd as they took me to my first concert when I was two (Beach Boys), music tastes always change. Also <3 Namie Amuro

Cat Power, husky breathy female vocals that really relax me. I listened to her a lot last time I had strep. /shrug. Never thought of "what is good sick music" before. LUcinda Williams? Chris Isaak, Al Green? Isis? Nada Surf? If you are trying to sleep/rest while sick, Kitaro has some great stuff for falling asleep to. Hope you feel better.

Any good suggestion for what to listen to while ill? Apocalyptica actually does a few soothing melodic pieces. Farewell is a good example.

Oooh darn, you beat me to posting that. I like it, a lot. Retains some classic NIN flavour while moving on to a more neo trip-hop/dubstep territory, which he was threatening to do back with Year Zero anyhow. Mariqueen's voice is pretty much a perfect feminine facsimile of Reznor's quiet voice.

This reminds me, we haven't done an f13 mixtape in a while. "Listen while ill" is a great album name.

It really depends on the illness: Common Cold: Chopin Syphilis: Schubert Necrotic Tissue from bite or flesh-eating disease: Goregrind, perhaps Carcass? Brain Tumor (or at least you'd have to have the symptoms to enjoy this): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5886Nb_psg

My music taste mutated a bit again and now I'm listening to the new Cypress Hill album. I don't know if I like it, even though on paper it's full of talent.

wow....that is different.. did some wiki fu, and I had their first album serenades back in the day, and haven't listened to them since the mid 90's quite the change in style. I will definately check this out, thanks for putting them back on my radar. If you like this, I assume you listen to Amorphis?

Got to see Band of Horses open for Pearl Jam in Columbus tonight. Friend had third row tickets from being a Ten Club member for nearly 20 years now. Pearl Jam just simply rocks, each and every time I see them. But to me, Band of Horses was my highlight. Perfect mix of indie rock with a bit of country twang and somberness. Excellent driving music.

I was into some spring-time rock stuff for a bit, Moving Pictures (for obvious reasons) and some early VH. Now I'm back into my Cab Calloway thing, I've got some 2-disc compilation in the truck. Love being able to burn both as an mp3 cd; my old truck had a tape player...6 cd changer full of mp3 cds is a nice little luxury (and of course a direct input for ipod, but without integrated controls it's a bit clunky and I always forget to turn off the ipod).
We've been seeing Big Bad Voodoo Daddy a couple times a year for a few years now, much like the blues I've been doing a bit of mining the past of bands like them and the BSO. A lot of the big band stuff can get schmaltzy for me, so far the only one I've really dug into was Count Basie, until I (re)discovered Cab. He's kind of the punk of the big band scene, it's really great stuff.

Saw Lecherous Nocturne, Skeletonwitch, and Cannibal Corpse last night with two co-workers. If you like metal, you will like Skeletonwitch, simple as that. I can't remember the last time I saw a band that was so clearly having the time of their life while onstage. Cannibal Corpse, never been into them, don't have any albums, but after seeing them live I can understand why they are so popular, although there drummer looks like he is barely able to play at the speeds required. All in all: go see skeletonwitch live if you get the chance. While they might not be doing anything new, what they do they do so well. some of the songs they played last night http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQlLYfgUtOchttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHxr6fP22MM&feature=relatedhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1DEyPFi0N1Y&feature=related

Those guys remind me a ton of Witchery in sound for some reason. I was able to get into that band despite the vocals (which didn't bother me too much for some reason) so maybe this band deserves a chance. I do like that it's not the same plodding chord and boring riff structure over and over again (to the exclusion of anything else). If anything, being creative and not dropping to D to speed along with one finger deserves some support these days...

Damn shame.
That it is. I had seen him live a few years back and he still had his performance top notch, even in his 60's. Sad day.

I saw him in Heaven and Hell (awesome) and was hoping to see him on the Dio tour. The original Rainbow album was the first rock album I ever listened to, and something both my Dad and I liked. Damn.
