It's not even that. It's really it's own weird abortion. My problem is that it all feels the same, and they make you do it 8 times. I thought they'd learned their lesson on that shit after bravely deault 1, but here we are.
you just described a saga game They make you do it simultaneously in parallel, and not in a way that makes sense. Also lacks all the weirdness that I personally find compelling in saga games.

Did we talk about the Amazon game New World? I had an alpha invite and forgot about it until I just got an email that they're going to be shutting down the alpha soon. Woops.

They are gonna shut it up in a month. You have plenty of time to see what is there to be seen... which is not much. Give it a whirl though.

Yah. That would explain my hesitance as well. Generic, crappy JRPG with an end boss battle that was long as hell and liked to 1 shot you.

I really like what they offer here (the Trails of Cold Steel arc/games):
- A story that starts small but grows bigger in what is an immense world that spans across 9 games with a hyper detailed history that you slowly get to know and care about. It's immense and there's a ton of scenes to read. Might not be for everyone, but it works for me. - The huge cast of characters and the fact that they have given a semblance of life even to all the usual two-lines NPCs in every single town to the point that they ALL have an evolving little story told through their always changing lines. If you care to read it. - The world full of slice-of-life details like the passing of seasons or train rides or a radio show. I am a sucker for those kind of things. - The school life and activities, and the relationships with your friends. So basically, the Persona stuff. - The turn based battles which are exactly my cup of tea, and very satisfying.
I went in expecting NOTHING. Actually I was expecting a generic, crappy JRPG. That's what it looked like from the trailers and I only picked it up because Trippy told me it was turn based. But ended up hit by something much bigger and better than I thought. The lack of actual dark tones so far is my only complaint. Everything is too chill.
Or maybe it's only for weeaboos, which I suppose I am. It's much much better than average weeaboo stuff though.

As part of a sale the Epic game store has going on right now, you can get $10 off a pre-order of Borderlands 3 (or $10 off any game $14.99 and up, but Borderlands 3 is the only notable one since Outer Worlds isn't up for pre-order yet).

Again, I forget why I'm supposed to avoid the Epic store. Maybe because Unreal Tournament was too hard.

Ah, yes. I suppose Chinese being in my shit is inevitable. We white people have had a good run.

Have you heard about Minion Masters. This thing just came out yesterday on Steam. It's free, it's a somehow a super lite deck building game, a tower defense, a hearthstone of sorts, a phone game, and none of those things. It seems stupid, should be stupid, but it is addictive and could become huge. The best part? You can play the usual 1v1 matches, or team up with a friend and play 2v2 against randos.

Did it come out a while ago on Android? The name sounds familiar and Google has a December 2016 release date listed.

Very likely. Seems like it's going through Season 4 or something and this is just a Steam/PC release. Still, I wouldn't have cared for it on a mobile. Not sure I care for it anyway, but as I said a pleasant surprise mini-game where I can team up with friends/son/partner and matchmake for the win.

Wot?
Anyway, someone pointed out to me that this is the same identical concept of Clash Royale, a phone game I've heard mentioned a lot in the last few years but I am not into mobile games, so my bad for missing the link.
With that said, this Minion Masters thing has been apparently out on Steam for two years, and just recently bumped itself up from Early Acess to version 1.0.
The best way to sum it up is Clash Royale made by (not)Blizzard.

Oh dear. That's not an oh dear situation. That's a best case scenario. They've never made a game I've disliked, and this is right squarely in their wheelhouse.

I know, this is a real bummer. At least 12 months until it hits other PC platforms, too. I like supporting small, local indie devs but I just can't in this case. It will launch on consoles early though, so maybe I'll do that if it looks fun.

SKALD: Against the Black PrioryA lovely game to keep your old eyes on. Even though it won't make the Kickstarter goal, it'll certainly resurface just after that.
