Bad As Me is streaming now, I apparently have 5 invites to the streaming site - who wants one?

The new M83 is really good, if you're into their sound. Really pulls a lot of 80s synthpop, but still feels like an evolution from Saturdays = Youth. Really feels like an Alphaville/OMD/DM album from the 80s, written now.

M83 is easily one of my favorite recent artists, because of that exact sound. Saturdays = Youth is probably my most played album for the last couple of years now, including when I'm having trouble shutting my brain down to sleep. I haven't picked up Hurry Up, We're Dreaming yet, but I've heard nothing but good things, and that it's the natural evolution of Saturdays. However, I feel it's a little closer to Dream Pop, specifically Ultravox and Cocteau Twins. Plus a dosage of Tears For Fears/Simple Minds. (And of course, lots of Brian Eno.) Though certainly, the one single that I've heard off of the latest certainly has some bigger beats that would be more indicative of DM/New Order. Edit: OH! It's on Spotify! Excellent.

Its on Rdio, too. And yeah, your list of bands is more accurate overall. I never really noticed the Cocteau Twins reference until you mentioned it. I'm not sure why; it's very obvious.
I should say that I got a tad bored of it mid-way through disc 2. On second listen today, I'm still digging what I've heard so far. It sounds like they're really happy and proud of this album, and it shows.

That's probably the best musical clip BW has ever posted.

I... I just... WTF WERE YOU SEARCHING FOR TO FIND THAT? !?!?!?!?!?! Someone linked it thinking I would enjoy it. I didn't. But I know how many of you like the whole Japanese thing so I thought I would share.

I hate the japanese culture crap and still think it's a thousand times better than cookie monsters. Not joking.

Seasons is one of my favorites songs; every time I hear it played, it takes me directly back to my late teens. That was a pretty awesome time for music.

Just to hammer home how jealous of Sky I am:
Have you called the box office to see if any tickets are left? I'll buy you a beer if you can make it :)

I'd have to leave work early, and wouldn't be back home until.... Late, heh. Edit: Albany is a ~3 hour drive. He's going to be at Burlington on the 29th though!

I endured most of the tracks on youtube the other day. That review is completely spot-on.
I caught the awesome Lemmy documentary last night. How did I miss that Mickey Dee has been with him for twenty years? King Diamond's Abigail was such a great album!

The Lemmy documentary, like the man, is absolutely awesome and worth all 2 hours and 30 minutes.
As for the Lou Reed/Metallica thing, I managed to make it through about half the album when they were streaming it before I just couldn't take anymore aural rapings. Talk about two totally unlike things trying to fit together. Spoiler - they don't. BADLY. It's fucking horrible.

Not crazy, it is a pretty great soundtrack. A little overdone in spots, not quite up to the level of his score for Icewind Dale, but still pretty great. Hearing it always makes me think of marching like 80 Cans into Proudft's base defenses.

No, you're not. I don't even have to click on the links. The TA stuff was fucking awesome and, due to some nifty forethought, used to be situational to the game. It was awesome, much like most of the Mechwarrior tracks.

Fuck. Why? Despite what some (BW) might think, I always try to give music a fair listen. There are some really great ideas on Lulu, it just fails horribly. That is one reason I liked that review linked upthread, it's got too many interesting elements to even qualify for worst album of the year, despite being utterly wretched. And I like the majority of BW's links....until the growler starts barking for cookies. Referencing my last link, I think Mustaine looks awesome in makeup. His sneer is so perfectly fitting.

Not into GWAR, but it always sucks to lose an original like that. Went to our annual BBVD show last night, such an amazing show. Recommend checking them out if they stop in your area, they tour like mad and the tickets are always cheap. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2fWV0GeYuj0
