Damnit I knew I forgot about something at work. I was going to listen to this on Spotify today.  Glad to hear it's good, though.

Also free on Prime Music. Since all Prime stuff is a bonus for me, because I've had it since before they had music/video/books...

Looks like they've really expanded Prime Music, so much good stuff 'gratis' (since as I said, I have it for the shipping).

That'll be a good show I'd imagine. I'll be seeing him in June here in Seattle. I've only seen him in concert when he came through here with Blackfield and that was one of the better concerts I've been to. I'm really really looking forward to it.

I saw Steven Wilson in concert last night at The Moore Theatre in Seattle. That was the best concert I've ever been to and I'm not sure it was all that close. I've been to some major shows like The Rolling Stones and ZZTop, but nothing like that. The songs played, the sound mixing, the visuals, etc. It was all just perfect.

I ran into a Swedish retro metal band, Witchcraft. It's like Black Sabbath and Pentagram with hipster prog elements creeping in.

Yeah, the Sword is a great band. Been listening to a lot of that genre, Witchcraft is another great one. Also the instrumental stuff like Pelican and Earthless.

I don't get why labels would ever take their music off youtube, I just discovered these dudes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LzaIGyWvomk

So I've been listening to Radio 3 which is the BBC's classical station, slowly learning the kinds of things I like and don't like. I don't like opera or jazz, which Radio 3 play sometimes. But it turns out that I really like a lot of choral music, which I wasn't expecting. This week I ran across this - Kanon Pokajanen by Arvo Pärt and loved it. It's a Eastern Orthodox hymn, sung in Slavonic, so it means absolutely nothing to me in any way, but it's incredibly beautiful.

I've also picked up the new Babymetal album, a completely bonkers j-pop/metal fusion act, although watching the vids leaves me with the sneaking suspicion I might end up on a register somewhere I love the music itself.

This crossed my path and it blew my socks off. So I searched to see if anyone else had posted about Babymetal.

Okay, so now we have Ladybeard

That was great. Particularly liked the bite out of the McBatwhich.

I should get back to nature, too.  You know, like going to a shop for groceries instead of the computer.  Maybe a condo in the woods that doesn't even have a health club or restaurant attached.  Buy a car with only two cup holders or something. -Signe

So, aside from making a bunch of awesome films in the 80's, John Carpenter is also a musician.  He released an album of non-soundtrack material earlier in the year which is pretty good.

Lovers of metal whose tastes tend to err towards prog or sludge/stoner (Sword, Baroness, that sort of thing) may find that this is their jam:

Ghost - Majesty

So the new Iron Maiden album is out on Spotify and I'm listening to it. It's VERY LONG. I'm liking it, though I'm not entirely sure if it isn't tipping the scale into being a little excessively self-indulgent. Of course, they've earned the right to be self-indulgent by this point.

Just be aware Ghost is straight-up Satanic music, in the event that bothers you.

They're good, though imo, the only two artists that can play dressup on stage is Gwar and David Bowie. Everyone else is just silly when the do it.

Gwar is retarded, King Diamond is amazing, so you're wrong. See how dumb opinions sound?

With Ghost, I vacillate between loving it and hating it. Something about his voice usually bugs me and the music can get very cheesy.
