Just wanted to drop in this pair of $20 releases.

Gothic 2 was a great single-player rpg and the Gold edition includes the Night of the Raven expansion, which was never released in the US (and I've been dying to get!). Great game to hold one over until Oblivion ships, I had bought the original Gothic 2 to hold me over for Morrowind and enjoyed Gothic 2 way more than MW. May be the best fantasy rpg on the pc.

Silent Storm Gold also includes the expansion. I waited too long to buy the original game (tbs ftw!) and it disappeared off shelves, for the last year or so. So I'm happy to see it in Gold form, for twenty bones. Even if there are giant robots.

How old is it (I'm shallow and gfx make a diff in my gameplay).

Also, can you be a monk?

Gothic 2's original release was Oct. 28 2003. It plays in widescreen but it's not shadertastic.

You can play a Paladin (heavy armor/melee), Mercenary (ranged, dragonhunters) or Magician (er...magic). There's a nice amount of story behind each faction, and you have to quest your way into each. You start as an average Joe, being saved from your death at the end of the first game is the plot device that weakens you back to newbiedom.

I really dig Gothic 2.

It's a German game. Made in Germany, in German, and first sold in German. Of course the voice overs are going to be rough.

You'd not buy a game based on piddly shit like that? Awesome.

I can't find this anywhere, and I wants it.

It should be ok as long as you don't mention the war.

I'll keep an eye out for it.
