Most likely the guy does not have a clue about comics. Or he was a dad concealing his identity to surprise one of the kids later. All the other guys had their faces concealed so that could be part of it.

More likely is just using a manly tele-lens, and is standing safely across a bend. At least that's what I always do when taking pictures of racecars.
