Flicker Strike is kind of awesome. Unusable until 28, but goddamn. It's just fun to watch.

I think my current build is just too squishy for how bad I am at dodging shit. It's still a rather good build and only really struggles on the end game bosses. It does all T16s fine and has enough DPS to trivialize most metamorphs. It mainly relies on avoidance and dodge and only has around 4.7K HP. So, if one of those layers fails, I die. Out of the new bosses, really only the Redeemer is a pretty sure deathless attempt. Drox sometimes just one shots me out of nowhere, and Baran/Poison guy can put you in some really awkward positions. Juiced up elder guardians are a trip. That electric asshole is really one-shotty.
So, I either try to pump up the HP pool and defenses or roll a tanky boi (necro, jugg or champ). I've read/seen things that can be done with flicker/double strike and it could fit the bill. Luckily I still have 12 ex plus sitting around.
Initially went Pestilent Strike Assassin but had a tough time with the squish as well. Went to Cyclone Champion w/ Impale and having a much smoother time FWIW

Funny you say that (or did I mention it somewhere), I just rolled a flicker strike slayer and started flickering at level 28. I think I'm level 50 now. Animate Weapon build started irritating me.

I went the champion route for more tankiness. Eventually it's just going to be Vaal Double Strike in the body armor and flicker strike in boots that have fortify built in. Already bought a frenzy charge on hit + explodey body armor and two Paradoxica. I might see if I can liquidate my raider and buy The Savior, but I'm not quite sure I'll pull 15ex out of it.

So, you have around 250ex to put into it? Ya, that's what I saw too. At least with Vaal Double Strike you can maybe get by without a million chaos 2h.

Flicker gameplay already started irritating me by the time I finished Act 9 at level 64.
Clearing is great, bossing is irritating. First true melee character in this league and it's worse than any other league I've played. (I've died the most with full unique leveling gear)
Either I'm going to roll a melee tank character, or go with a caster of some sort.
Anyone play a Reckoning build this league? Heard they got nerfed to shit.

I'm currently stuck at 89 with a reckoning duelist build. It's a lot squishier than last league. [edit] Better gear got me to 90, but it's still too squishy

The new atlas is huge improvement to the old system in my opinion. It gives you more direction and goals prior to just going after the bosses.
My only issue is the UI and selecting maps within regions. It's a pain in the ass going from the Map to my Stash constantly. Wish they were all integrated. In fact I wish I just had to click on the map on the atlas screen to open it. But that would make too much sense.
If you press G while your character runs to your stash you can access the map inventory while your atlas is open. Its a bit finicky since its not exactly designed to work that way but it helps finding the maps you want to run quicker.

I give up. I’m leveling my Necro. Flicker boy is fun, but I get blown up pretty easily. Needs a lot more levels and probably twice the currency invested.
I guess I’ll keep it around. It’s still fun to play.

So I finally made it to endgame and don't really know what's going on with the new Atlas. Just did a bunch of T1 and T2 maps to get my master missions done; I really like how those work now, instead of having to hope I have whatever map they've chosen to spawn on. I still hate Betrayal, and don't really know any optimal strategies for Blight since I didn't play that league. What exactly is a Blighted map, just a map that Cassia will spawn on several times? Or is it going to be one big tower defense?
Some dude was quitting and giving away a bunch of loot via trivia, and I won about 20ex worth of stuff from him. So now I can actually buy gear. The biggest thing I'm missing for my Scourge Arrow Pathfinder is my head enchant, and it looks like I'm going to have to run Uber Lab forever to get it; even bad pieces of gear with the right enchant are like 5ex+.

I just started a Mana Guardian. https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2663126I only got up to level 50. Not that tanky yet, but running around with some cheapo skin chest piece. Pretty interesting concept.

Just get a base that seems OK and craft on it. You can get an ilvl 80 evasion/es base with the additional pod enchant for 35c. The 40% damage mod is even cheaper. Scour it and you can use a single abberant fossil to get the -9 to nearby resists. I ran scourge arrow cold conversion last league toward the end and I didn't need an enchant at all. I give up. I’m leveling my Necro. Flicker boy is fun, but I get blown up pretty easily. Needs a lot more levels and probably twice the currency invested.

Pretty interesting concept. Mana guardian takes a while to come together. I didn't like one when I tried it. This is probably more due to the skill I tried to pair it with. As a whole, I don't do great with templars. Neck is too long. Necro so far feels like cheating. Stuff just insta dies. You get to equip an Astramentalis at 20, so you never, ever have to worry about stats. Not sure if I'm going to for a Baron build, but it's pretty tempting considering with Geoffri's Sanctuary you can get a shit-ton of ES for stacking strength.

So I got this Mana Guardian build up to level 69.
Not bad having 6600 ES at level 69. Need a new convoking wand with +1minion level.
Mapping is not super fast, but it's also a tank build.

I still have no idea what's going on with the new endgame; found our first Watchstone from an outer region, which I guess I'm supposed to put in an inner region? And then keep clearing the other 3 outer regions to find their watchstones? I really need to find a good ELI5 guide to this shit, because all of my past experience is useless here.

You essentially do maps in a region until a conqueror spawns and then you kill him to get a watchstone. Then you go and put that stone in the thingy and the maps in that region get upgraded so you can then start getting higher tier maps. Once you do enough maps in a region with multiple stones in the citadel then you spawn another encounter.
You collect stones, and once you can put 4 in a thing, and do it in multiple regions you can start spawning events that lead to the end boss.
It's a cluster. But better than before. Needs a lot of QoL issues (some got patched in today apparently).

The column on the left represents all of the regions and is the key to understanding most of the new thing. Note, you can actually store watchstones in there. There are consumable watchstones. I suppose if you have all of the stones and want to use one of the consumable ones, it's where you put the stones you aren't using. Getting to that point is not something I am ever going to see from what I can tell.
Anyway, the real use for it is to show you what can be spawned in the regions and what you need to do to get a dude to spawn. Just mouse over one of the 2x2 blocks. If you have just started, it should say something like 1 watchstone for each of the guys. As you get more watchstones, you need to have more watchstones socketed in an area to spawn the guys. I believe the number of watchstones varies depending on how many times you have found a particular guy.
To begin with, you need to spawn each guy 4 different times across the whole map and then Zana will open Sirus area and you can enjoy that cluster.

I can't play the game long enough to do more than 4-5 maps in a session because I get bored. I'll never be able to spawn Siris or however you spell his name.
The key to this game for me is to find a build that is fun enough, engaging, and gives me enough to chase as upgrade to keep me playing the shitty map system. The boredom of the god awful map system usually kills my interest in any build before I reach t10 maps.
The Atlas sucks because every thing you do is RNG gated. You need to get maps to drop, then specific maps to drop. Then you have to craft maps for stats. Then you also have to play the storage/map inventory thing and search for the right map before you want to play. Then you have to repeat all that every time you want to play.
Personally, I'd like to see a league where they get rid of the maps. Get rid of sulphite, and let me delve endlessly. Then add some more stuff that you can spend azurite on. Challenge me on how deep I can go. I liked that aspect of D3 and the Rifts.

If you really want to get mad at the Atlas map, try using it on the PS4.

I liked the old mapping system, and maps in general. Working to completion was simple, just start at the lowest tiers you have and work outwards, doing each map once for the 1% bump. Most of the time I would just alch and go, unless I rolled a mod that countered my specific build (reflect and no-regen were the two biggest culprits); with higher tiers, I would chisel them up first. My only complaint was early progression, where you'd often have to buy maps because specific ones you need aren't dropping. Even so, you knew WHAT you had to do to progress.
The new Atlas feels like a step backwards because it's so complex; I've got two watchstones socketed (one each in two of the inner regions) but still haven't had any yellow maps drop. I'm not sure if I need to get two more socketed to have one in all four inner regions, or if there's some other problem going on.
The map stash tab is certainly a gamechanger in terms of endgame; without that, I would probably share a lot of your complaints. I just wish you could have it and the Atlas open easily at the same time (without having to glitch it). I also wish there was an easier way to see which maps were in what region; if they don't want to give that info until that map is visible on the Atlas, fine, but once it is I want to be able to easily find what maps I need to run without going back and forth between the stash and the Atlas. I can't even imagine trying to do that without the convenience of the tab.

You can search in the stash tab by region. "Valdo" will highlight every map in Valdo's Rest, regardless of map tier. In the .c patch, there's going to be all of that information available on the map itself. Supposedly there's some influence spawning bugs that will be corrected along with some more visual clarity changes.
I like it well enough. Better than the shaper/elder shit for yet another league. Does seem like a lot of hassle to respawn Sirus, however. Minimum 16 (including bosses) maps if you hit all your dice rolls.

Fuck Sirius double. Red and black on red and black, and blood bladestorm is red and black. The others are tedious, but the Sirius fight is just obnoxious.

I keep failing at the last part. I don't know how to effectively dodge that beam, and it one shots me every time. Either I'm missing a cue or somehow I'm triggering it? I don't know. I did Awakening level 6 without dying to like 25% and then just splatted over and over again.

It's got an audio cue. When he says "Die!", pop your quicksilver, and start using your movement skills to circle around him. The important thing is to keep moving because it tracks for a bit, but even with suboptimal move speed, you can outrun it if you're close enough to him. If you're far away... well, you might be screwed, which is where a lot of my deaths come from. I fuck something up, and then when I zone back in looking for him, he just gibs me from offscreen before I can do anything about it. Honestly, most of the time I'm spending that last phase just running around like a lunatic, but I'm playing a summoner at the moment, which is EZ mode because my minions just beat him down while I concentrate on staying alive. I've got a fully awakened map at this point. Think this might be the only league I actually get all of the cosmetic rewards from. Only one I'm missing at this point that seems feasible is just grinding out another 500 or so maps.

I guess I'll have to put on some headphones when I try it next time. I don't think I've ever heard that line specifically. It's a noisy fight. Heh, I only have 4 more watchstones before I have all of it. Funny that I'll hit that before downing Sirus.

No joke. There was one other dude there when I arrived. Awakening level 7 due to some issues with influence spawning. Would have been deathless, but I ran out of the rock tunnel ability into a storm. That was a Sports Center highlight. Necro kind of feels like cheating. It's just too good of a bosser.
