Is Day of Defeat worth it?  I recall playing through the demo, but never picked it up.

I've been playing DoD for close to a decade, always loved it.  The steam version is updated obviously, but graphics will still look dated to you I'm sure.  Still, its my favorite realistic shooter game, though I'm going to give Red Orchestra a try now.

Borderlands at ~$10 is really crazy.

I agree, that's ludicrously overpriced.

Day of Defeat is great, I think thats just DoD and not Source though??  Not that source is that much better or anything, just probably a ton more people playing it.

I dunno, I'm enjoying it.  Everyone has an opinion, I think Torchlight at $10 is overpriced.  Ohhhhh, I see.

It's DoD: Source.  "Day of Defeat" is a free mod for Half Life, heh.

Anyone played Birth of America?  Is it worth the $1.50?

I downloaded it and have played maybe a half hour so far (the tutorial basically.) I can definitely feel my neckbeard growing.

It is kind of rough around the edges, and the tutorial is insufficient, I suspect it is going to require a thorough reading of the manual to know how to approach it.

Torchlight was/is a great deal at $5. I bought it for $10 quite a while back and felt lioke I got my cash worth. borderlands felt like a ripoff at $25 or whatever when I bought the 4pack. At $10, I'd probably have seriously considered it, IF I can get 2-3 other people I know to play with me. It sucks playing alone.

For those of you who got empire at war, this is the best conversion+addon for it, and I plan on playing it:

Eh, I felt I got my money's worth out of Borderlands at $50.  I played it for probably at least 70 hours.

Today's sale doesn't do much for me.

Hm... tempted by Prototype at $15.  Anyone know if the PC port is garbage?

Seems fine to me, though I never played any of the console versions. I use the Xbox 360 controller with it.

Borderlands is 27 US$ here, so still fairly easy to resist. I remember people saying nice things about Saints Row 2 though so I'll put that on the queue and think about adding prototype to that.

I've heard a lot of love for Saints Row, but I got it on the PS3 for cheap a while back and gave up on it after half an hour.  I've been way too spoiled by GTA's graphics and physics.  sad

The SR2 port is awful, horridly optimized, runs like sheisse. I made a cool Cliff Burton and made it about ten minutes after the game beginning jail break before deleting it.

Borderlands is a good deal for $10 but not for any more than that. Since I already had it I picked up all the DLC for $10 total. Hoping its worth it. The island of doctor Zed is interesting and a major major visual change but kinda dull as fuck with no one else to play with.

Hm. Borderlands is US$27.19 and the DLC is $13.23 here.

I might pick up the DLC packs.

Tempted to buy 3x Empire At War.. I already have 3x the original game on disc. but I guess I could look at it as buying the expacks for that price.  swamp poop

I got to the part where you make it to the boat and just lost interest.  Looks bad and runs worse.  Maybe I'll be able to play it when I upgrade.  Ohhhhh, I see.  Bought it a long while ago for I think $5, so I don't really care.

I liked how the tutorial didn't seem to care that I was using a gamepad.  Amateur hour.

Grabbed myself Blood Bowl for 19.99 and the DLC for Defense Grid. Earlier I'd grabbed the Monkey Island series

Other than that I was a bit underwhelmed with the sale.

Or maybe that's the nature of games today

Are there any horror stories with GTA: San Andreas on PC?  I've been eying it all this sale as I've never played it, but didn't think to see if it actually worked awesome, for real.

I got GTA:SA on PC back when it first came out and it worked fine for me.

This.

Birth of America is a smidgen too neck-beardy for me.  It's also pretty low budget, I noticed countless typos in the text from just doing the tutorial.  I might try a campaign later when I have time.  If you're in the mood for some historical turn based grognard gaming, this is a safe play at $1.50.

Yeah, not a lot there aside from the obvious (Portal or Freedom Force for $2).  Battlefield BC2 is really good but I got it for less than that more than three months ago.

Seeing the original Mount & Blade for ~$10 did made me look up Mount & Blade Warband and that's only $5 more.

I was thinking of Metro 2033. Anyone played that to completion? Or is it one of these visual candy FPS that are cool for the first few hours and then you find yourself thinking of it as work?

Also looking at Singularity. New game, not on sale, but it looks like its finally an FPS with, you know, a real story.

I should get back to nature, too.  You know, like going to a shop for groceries instead of the computer.  Maybe a condo in the woods that doesn't even have a health club or restaurant attached.  Buy a car with only two cup holders or something. -Signe

I'd suggest avoiding Metro 2033 (technically shitty, check steam forums for complaints), otherwise the sale isn't bad it's just not overwhelming imo.

It's really not.

Well, the hook is sort of fine, but the whole hook parachute dynamic frustrates the hell out of me. You want to get up 10 feet, you hook and try and parachute and woahhhh camera spins and suddenly you're sailing away from the building. I never finished the game and I never really enjoyed it either.
