Difference between EU and USA: But remember, it's the EU that has overarching regulations and big government red tape!

Is the government really responsible for such detailed warnings? I thought it was our private sector, with the lawsuit culture we have.

When you see a warning label like that, think of it like a Terms of Service.

You wouldn't believe the number of millennials who don't know that Gen X exists and just call everyone older than them "boomers". Came here to post these.

I consider it to be the Gen Xiest thing anyone could ever do. Fuck a list. We don't need to be on it.

They don't count Gen-x because they consider Gen-x to be as useless, in the way, and prone to world destroying as the Boomers. Enjoy your new position.

Well, at least nobody is telling us Gen-Xers we all get burnout because we are special little snowflakes. Better ignored than ridiculed. On a more serious note - who places all these headlines worldwide? We had a similar headline in one of our major newspapers yesterday or the day before. Is everybody copying everybodies content now, even on unimportant non-news? Lazy fucks!

Speaking from a media worker's perspective, yes, everybody is copying everybody else's content. More so in January when a lot of media people take holidays, and yes they're copying even the unimportant non-news because everyone reads/watches it. Media organisations have the science of clickability/watchability down to the finest of arts and sciences. I used to work for a TV network and they look at audience movements minute-to-minute while they're on-air, and they've been doing this for decades, so they know exactly which garbage will work at which time on which day, against other networks that are doing exactly the same science. Media company incomes have died, staff counts have fallen massively, and agencies like Reuters and AP are where most of the news comes from. They have actual reporters, though they're not well paid, and everyone else has stopped having correspondents in other cities and countries. If one media organisation has an exclusive story, it gets shamelessly reworked by everyone else as "[other organisation] reports that..." (see the recent Buzzfeed exclusive that Mueller refuted). The commercial media can no longer afford the sense of duty or responsibility it used to have. It's just companies trying to make a buck. The worst mainstream offender is The Daily Mail. It's one of the most powerful media entities internationally now, because it rips everyone else's stories more shamelessly than anyone else (rivals are a bit more "ethical" about attributing stories). In Australia if you write an original story, you often find The Daily Mail gets all the traffic because they have staff whose main job is stealing at speed, plus an excellent social media presence. The audience doesn't realise it's theft; they just want the news and The Daily Mail seems to have it. Even public media organisations with no profit motive, like the BBC and Australia's ABC, use attributed rewrites (copied stories) because they need to show people are reading/viewing. Nobody has found an answer; we're all just going deeper into the drain, losing viewers and colleagues, as newspapers close, viewers watch subscription video instead, and people who share bullshit on social media think they follow the news. It's not laziness by the media.

We are lucky to have a fairly good local newspaper that's still independently owned and operated. Really great for local news and events.
For the last two years, the EiC has been rewriting any AP article about the president or current 'policy issues' (whatever the stupid of the day is). I stopped my sub last year, but I missed the local content and like the idea of a real local paper (and it's only a few years until the guy retires), so I resubbed.
First wacky edit was about the shutdown, how Clinton and Obama maximized public suffering and Trump has done everything possible to make life better for everyone during the shutdown.
So much koolaid. We either skip the front page national stuff, or gird ourselves and read it for the lulz.
